ROCKEFELLER JOINS FEINSTEIN IN CLAIMING HE VOTED IN FAVOR OF BUSH'S WAR IN IRAQ BECAUSE OF ALL THE LIES AND DECEPTIONS

>

On Friday I tried to make the point how absolutely crucial it is for every Democratic member of the House and Senate to disavow Bush's catastrophic Iraqi war and occupation. The first step is to publicly admit to being duped by the Bush Regime's barrage of lies and by the manipulation of the intelligence data leading up to the attack, a page BushCo took directly from Hitler's and Goebbels' playbook on how to blame Poland for Germany attacking in 1939. On Friday I mentioned how gratified I was to see one member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Dianne Feinstein acknowledge she had been tricked into voting for a wrong and illegal war. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), another member of the duped Senate Intelligence Committee, did the same thing in a powerful speech on the floor of the Senate. He did what every Democrat must do: he stately, clearly and unambiguously, that if he knew then what he knows now, he would never ever would have voted for war in Iraq. Democrats should not be allowed to fudge on this one. Let's hear from Hillary and Biden.

One Democrat we did hear from, who is completely on the wrong side of this issue and who still doesn't get it is Congressman Jim Marshall of Georgia who single-handedly provided BushCo with the only Democratic vote that was needed to beat back a proposal by Nancy Pelosi this week for a meaningful investigation into the manipulation of intelligence to deceive Congress and the American people in the run-up to the unprovoked attack on Iraq. (Pelosi's proposal was beaten by 1 vote, thanks to Marshall.)
