U.S. PUBLIC DOES NOT WANT SCALITO CONFIRMED. MORE LIKED MIERS THAN ALITO!!

>

You've probably been so excited about all the polls showing Bush's approval rating sinking to where it belongs (so that soon only registered KKK and Aryan Nation members will be admitting they admire him), that you may have missed how the right-wing fanatic he nominated to the Supreme Court has been fairing in the court of public opinion. Just to put a little perspective on it, although Sammy Alito has a better public image than Dick "19% approval" Cheney, poor old Harriet Miers was better thought of by the public than Scalito! Yep, although the BushCo right-wing goon squad and their allies in the mass media are salivating at the prospect of getting an extremist like Alito onto the bench (thanks, Nebraska Democratic Senator Ben Nelson-- as reactionary as any common variety Republican), the U.S. public is much less enthusiastic. According to a new Ipsos poll released yesterday by Associated Press, only 38% of Americans feel the Senate should confirm Scalito. This is the same poll that found that 41% should confirm ole Harriet, Bush's clearly incompetent but fanatically-loyal lawyer. The poll also found that only 20% of the public has a favorable opinion of Alito. Earlier this week, another poll showed that a clear majority of Americans do not want Alito confirmed if he favors overturning Roe v Wade (which he does and which is why he was pre-approved by what Republican operatives call "the whackos" within their own right-wing coalition, and, of course, why Bush nominated him.)
