WILLARD IS CLOSING HIS WALLET AND GOING BACK TO MICHIGAN OR MASSACHUSETTS OR UTAH OR WHEREVER HE'S FROM
>
Willard "Mittens" Romney, the former moderate-to-liberal Republican governor of Massachusetts who tried flip floppin' himself into the great salvation of the neo-fascist right wing of the GOP, has ignominiously packed his tent and slinked off in the night. As expected, he ended his campaign today which cost him as much as $40 million. He's "suspending" his campaign so he can hold on to his delegates-- and also so he'll be there in case McCain dies between now and the convention.
Sources close to him say his thinking is that he's a relatively young man (61) and hopes to run in the future, the expectation being that McCain will win the Republican nomination and then go down to an historic defeat in November. He'll make the announcement that it is now a two pygmy race at CPAC and, as reported here yesterday, to his congressional supporters later in the day. He won't be showing this video at CPAC:
Last year CPAC was best known as the place where Ann Coulter got up on a stage in front of a crowd of brown-shirts and goose-steppers to assert that John Edwards is gay, perhaps hoping to take the heat off Republican closet queens Lindsey Graham R-SC), Mark Foley (R-FL), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), David Dreier (R-CA), Patrick McHenry (R-NC), Adrian Smith (R-NE), Larry Craig (R-ID), Jim McCrery (R-LA), Phil English (R-PA), Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), etc, etc, etc. This year, as part of a deal to get McCain to address the assemblage of extreme right activists, the organizers have banned Coulter.
But they haven't banned other over-the-cliff America-haters who are debating among themselves how to greet McCain this afternoon. The debate is whether to boo their party's sacrificial lamb or to sit in silence and send him hateful vibes.
People wondering why Limbaugh and other far right agents hate McCain so much, need look no further than to this article in the New York Observer by Joe Conason. "After comparing Mr. Limbaugh to a 'circus clown,' the Arizona Republican apologized. 'I regret that statement,' he told an interviewer on Fox News the other night, 'because my office has been flooded with angry phone calls from circus clowns all over America. They resent that comparison, and so I would like to extend my apologies to Bozo, Chuckles and Krusty.'"
UPDATE: THE SILLIEST PART OF WILLARD'S STATEMENT TO THE NUTS
He's withdrawing from the race because of the war against Islamo-fascism. The man must be a saint!
Willard yelled "Never Surrender" as he surrendered. It made me think of Corey Hart's song:
