IRVING LIBBY (AKA- SCOOTER): BY THE NUMBERS

>

and he's off!

Even with all that propaganda being shoveled our way nonstop by Republican whores-- from lobbyist Fred Thompson and vulture capitalist Mitt Romney to fake journalists like O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter and Ajami-- polling on the Bush Regime springing their patsy Scooter is really negative. Almost 70% of American voters think Bush screwed up again.

The American Research Group did the polling on July 5 and it clearly indicates that most Americans-- of all political persuasions-- understand quite a bit more of the Libby case than GOP talking points about "no underlying crime" conviction. People get that the idea of throwing him in prison was meant to encourage him to testify about Cheney's and Rove's underlying crime. And they understand that the Bush Regime wasn't interested in encouraging anything of the sort. Besides which, people seem unhappy that convicted felons not so well connected actually do have to serve prison time for a lot less serious offenses than Libby's.

Voters most offended by Bush's faithlessness weren't even Democrats but independents. 76% of Democrats say they opposed Bush's commutation trickery and almost half of the Republicans agree (47%) but fully 80% of independent voters are opposed. And when it comes to a full pardon-- which Bush is still dangling to keep Libby quiet-- 97% of independents are opposed; 70% of Republicans are opposed; and 82% of Democrats are opposed.

Logan over at Crooks & Liars just put up a video from Olbermann's show with John Dean that clearly indicates that the Bush Regime doesn't give a damn what anybody thinks about anything they do. Regardless of Bush's claim that Libby's sentence was "excessive," it was precisely in sync with the sentencing guidelines created and aggressively pushed by the Bush Justice Department. Too bad Pelosi has this whole "off the table" hang-up. Why is she protecting them?

These polls always ask such insipid questions.

They need to ask direct, conclusive questions like:

Is the Cheney-Bush crime nexus guilty of multiple accounts of treason? Yes or No.

That will give you a true reading of America's approval of the Cheney-Bush crime nexus.
