TIME FOR IMPEACHMENT? !

>

Only three states show a positive job approval rating for Bush these days: Utah, Idaho and Wyoming-- and it's starting to slip in Idaho and Wyoming. But yesterday the mayor of the biggest city in Utah, Rocky Anderson, called for the impeachment of the embattled Bush.
"We think if impeachment were ever justified, this certainly is the time. This president, by engaging in such incredible abuses of power, breaches of trust with both the Congress and the American people, and misleading us into this tragic, unbelievable war, the violation of treaties, either international or our Constitution-- our own domestic law, and then his role in heinous human rights abuses, I think all of that together calls for impeachment and certainly would communicate to the rest of the world that is not who we are as the American people."

Like many grassroots Democrats, Anderson knows the congressional Democrats are playing politics by not impeaching Bush and that many of them know in their hearts that they have been Bush enablers all along. The serious presidential candidates are also loathe to even allow the discussion to go in that direction. Dennis Kucinich, forever opportunistic, however is starting to at least ask the question: is it time to begin impeachment charges against the worst president in American history?

It seems almost inevitable that the myriad ongoing investigations in Congress-- on almost everything-- will lead to only one possible outcome: impeachment. Take a look at Kucinich's video on impeachment. He doesn't make a very compelling candidate but the arguments he makes are worth hearing and thinking about.

As for Cheney... well the case of Taha Yassin Ramadan should be looked at carefully. A fair trial is a fair trial, right? Good for the goose...

UPDATE: SO DOES FLIP FLOP MITT WANT TO IMPEACH BUSH TOO?

I bet he does, but he'll never say so. Oh, it's Thursday; I bet he doesn't. Anyway, in 2003 Mitt endorsed Rocky Anderson for mayor. I thought you might want to see the video.

He should have been impeached in 2003. Congress's failure to do its duty then has led directly to the mess we're in today.

I hope Dennis moves ahead with impeachment and not just with Bush. The whole administration needs impeached.

Nobody but Dennis in 2008.

Rocky Anderson has been a consistent anti-Bush voice for a long time. I've voted for him every time, and I'm saddened he's not running again.

Living in Utah is a constant embarrassment to me politically, but we do have the occasional decent politician here.
