IF DELAY WEREN'T SUCH A ROTTEN VICIOUS TURD, ONE COULD ALMOST FEEL SORRY FOR HIM. ALMOST. NEW INDICTMENT TODAY

>

A week after his first indictment, the conspiracy charge, ANOTHER Austin grand jury indicted Tom DeLay today on a new charge of money laundering. Like the first case, this one accuses DeLay and 2 henchmen of conspiring to get around a state ban on corporate campaign contributions by funneling the money through a political action committee to the Republican National Committee in Washington.
The grand jury charges that the Republican national Committee, under DeLay's instructions sent back the same amounts to his pet candidates in Texas (the ones prohibited from accepting corporate loot). The second indictment came just a few hours after DeLay's lawyer filed a spurious motion to dismiss the case, claiming that the conspiracy charge was based on a law that was not effective until 2003, the year after the alleged money transfers. (Does that mean DeLay is admitting his criminal behavior but trying to get off on a technicality?)
