As Princess Sarah steps down as governor of Alaska, are we waiting for another shoe to drop?

SEE THE UPDATE BELOW: "DID A
SCANDAL SINK THE U.S.S. PALIN?"
Princess Sarah sends the local press corps speculating.
There's video from KTTU-TV about the unexpected news -- hurled into the 4th of July weekend news dump -- that the American Right's fairy princess is turning over the governorship to Alaska Lieut. Gov. Sean Parnell on July 26. The news was dropped 12 minutes into a news conference, after which the governor refused to take questions.
The innocent explanation is that the princess wants to be relieved of those nasty governmental responsibilities to be free to ramp up her campaign for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
The other explanation, taking note of the mass of brewing scandals surrounding the princess's tenure as governor, is that she's skipping town before one of those scandals blows up. If that's the case, we should know pretty soon.
Best summation of the princess's presence since she burst onto the national scene came from a colleague who observed:
"There's something deeply disturbing about the way that woman processes reality."
Yes! Exactly!
SIDE NOTE: YOU CAN'T SLIP A THING PAST
THOSE WASHINGTON POST NEWSHOUNDS
At 3:49pm EDT, the Washington Post website sent out the following "news alert":
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Won't Seek Re-Election
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will not seek a second term in 2010, according to sources familiar with the governor's thinking, freeing her to build a national political team and travel the country in support of an expected 2012 presidential bid.
Um, yes.

As you point out--something's about to happen that makes Shotgun Annie look very, very bad. Something so big, she wants to be as far away from the media and any center of responsibility as possible when it hits. Couldn't happen to a nicer, more resourceful, intelligent, responsive, cool-headed individual, could it?
Exactly my sentiments, B!
Ken
Sarah Palin will be joining Fox News Commentator, Sean Hannity as a co-host anchor position. She will be spending her next 2 years dogging the Republican party alongside Newt Gingrich whereby they become the co-creators of a new political idea and movement.
You just wait and see if this doesn't happen. How will a woman make money? Why on earth would anyone quit like this unless they had full-court-press playbooks to get her face in front of millions of Americans.
She draws thousands to her speeches. She is a force Fox News can push for 2012 and beyond.
My personal theories:
1. The Wasilla Barbie has huge legal bills, and the only way she can make big bucks quickly (and legally) is to warm an anchor chair at Fox.
2. One colossal scandal is about to blow sky high. Trig's birth certificate was falsified, perhaps?? Hubby is having an affair? Whatever...it'll be juicy for sure.
C3! EXACTLY.
Palin and Bachmann, two of the worst and generally unelectable except in their freaky state/district are PERFECT for the Faux News Ann Coulterish newscasterperson.
HUGE LOSS for those of us loving watching the GOPers put serious wasted time and money into her.
This indicates Palin IS smart enough to know that she can't win and/or is going down on a contracting/ethical scandal. I betcha Michele Bachmann is worried she is going to take her Faux News Seat before her district is eliminated due to NO CENSUS in MN06.
Karma Fruit-YUM!
