WHEN OBAMA TAKES THE OATH OF OFFICE NEXT JANUARY, HE'LL BE ABLE TO LOOK BACK ON TONIGHT AS THE DEFINITIVE TURNING POINT FOR HIM

>

A governor trumped 2 senators

Obama wrecked Hillary Clinton's presidential ambitions today. He just slaughtered her everywhere. Although Clinton had been endorsed by both Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, Obama absolutely buried her in their state of Washington-- with the help of the SEIU, the governor and the mayor of Seattle. Democratic turnout in Washington was double what it was in 2004. The delegate count is bad enough-- Obama 52, Hillary 26-- but the raw percentages are even scarier: Obama 68% to Hillary's measly 31%. She only managed to win one of Washington's 39 counties (Douglas), quite a feat when you consider the wide cultural divide between the eastern and western part of the state and the urban and rural parts of the state.

Nebraska, where reactionary former Governor and Senator Bob Kerrey endorsed Clinton and took some vicious anti-Obama shots, gave Obama a stunning win early in the day-- the same 68% that he got from Washington voters. It looks like Obama will take 16 delegates to Clinton's 8. Kansas was even worse for Clinton, where Obama took 74% of the vote and 23 delegates. She got 9 delegates. Clinton fared less dismally in Louisiana-- but just barely. Obama got 57% of the vote and she got 36% (with 23 delegates for him and 15 for her). The Virgin Islands also had a caucus today and everyone voted for Obama and he took all 3 delegates. (I was just joking about everyone; Hillary managed to take 10% 7% of the votes.)

So where do we go from here? Clinton is expected to do well in Maine's caucus tomorrow, but it should be close. Tuesday is Virginia, Maryland and DC, all Obama territory, unless she can generate a massive sympathy vote after her humiliating drubbing today. He's also favored to win the two contests on February 19-- Hawaii and Wisconsin. If she wins in Ohio and Texas in March, she might be able to slow down his momentum. Otherwise, it's all over.

Do not assume that Obama will be taking the oath of office in January.

God, I just got the eerie shudder-inducing suspicion that Anonymous is a super delegate.

I won't confirm or deny that...but I will say that Hillary Clinton is my candidate of choice!

Hmm. I believe we just got a blind-item confirmation of an imminent coup. Cronyism trumping the popular will — curious take on the "democratic" thing.

Curiouser corroboration over at the Telegraph. Hope yall supers are prepared to destroy the party, because there'll be hell to pay amongst those of us who've had our fill of rule-by-fiat.

If you want to leave our party, that's entirely up to you. However, I think everyone will ultimately fall into line come convention time. Should you decide to bolt, then it increases the chances of a Republican victory, which NONE OF US wants. I think, at the end of the day, the party will have to come together, for the sake of the country and its future, regardless of who becomes the nominee for president.

Either democrat can win NY and CA this November, but only one can turn Red states Blue in the general election. And his name is Barack Obama.

Either democrat will get some support from the democratic base in November, but only one is driving massive turnout, participation, excitement and individual contributions --- and can get the votes of independents and *gasp* some republicans.

And only one democrat can say that he had the sound judgement to oppose the Iraq war in October 2002.

Hopefully the super delegates will realize this.

If they don't, then they risk alienating an entire generation of young voters. Which wouldn't bode well for the future of the party.

Obama has limited amounts of national experience. Charisma and good looks only takes you so far. Reagan had charisma...and he was also governor of the most populous state in the union for 8 years. We would be making a grave mistake if we put an inexperienced individual like Obama into the White House.

Restating: "Experience" in a corrupt system doesn't do anyone any good except the corrupt.

The point of debating Obama's merits would seem moot here, since, as has already been intimated above, the Royal right wing of the party doesn't care what the rank-and-file thinks, and will get its way with popular assent or not.

And we will "fall into line"? Jesus Fucking Christ, do you even hear yourself?

Yassuh, massuh, we'll sho nuff do what y'all bid.

And the corruption rolls on.

Then, Grimm....YOU, not I, will doom the party to ruin. And we will have your faction to thank for it.

YOU, not I, will doom the party to ruin.

No, you are wrong. It will be your fault for trying to force us to vote for an unpalatable candidate, under the threat that we'll get someone even worse.

No thanks. I've had enough of such threats, which get me bad politicians either way. I'm sick of having to vote "against" someone every damned time.

WE, the rank-and-file, will "doom the [Democratic] party," by holding it to democratic principles? You, the party's reactionaries, war apologists, will TELL us what's good for us, tell us to eat shit and call it ice cream, and if we bridle at this intrinsically undemocratic notion, it will be OUR fault, not a handful of priggish erudite plutocrats who decided they were above the will of the people?

Is that what your Democratic Party stands for? Arbitrary rule by our "betters"? Like you? As you have not once refuted? Because if it is, no, ma'am, it ain't my party. My party is responsive to the will the people, it speaks for them, it doesn't bray at them like tinpot condo-cloistered demagogues.

And, no, once the very ethos of the party is betrayed, once you trade principle for money and measured reason for caprice, no, it will not be the rank-and-file dooming the party. Beshitted means create beshitted ends. If you are really prepared to steal an election and proscribe the choices of the people who carry the water for this party, which you unabashedly seem inclined toward, you'd best be prepared to reap the whirlwind. Those people are what makes it OUR party, not YOURS.

And if YOU decide otherwise . . . well, you sucker-punch somebody in the face, don't waste your breath trying to convince them they had it coming.

Mother of god, you'd think I'm talking to a goddamn Republican here.

Lest anybody wonder why a clean break from dogmatic party-machine hackery might seem appealing to a lot of people.

Like it or not, charisma wins elections. Fortunately, Barack has charisma AND most everything else that matters on his side to win in November and be a great president.

If experience = giving Bush the thumbs up to wreck Iraq and lives of thousands forever, no thanks.

And Barack has more experience than you've likely been led to believe...

Maybe before Obama takes office some questions will have to be answered. Obama was a driving force in passing the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act of June
27, 2003 Senator Obama was in charge of the committee in the Illinois Senate that
pushed through the legislation that resulted in the Act being passed.

Obama was appointed chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee.
The minute the Health Facilities Planning Act bill was introduced, it was referred to his
committee for review. The sponsors of the bill also served on this committee with
Obama. Within a month, Chairman Obama sent word to the full senate that the
legislation should be passed. I do not know if Obama voted present on this bill.

On May 31, 2003, Senate Bill 1332 passed and specified that the ““Board shall be
appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate." The legislation
reduced the number of members from 15 to 9, paving the way for the appointment of a
five-bloc majority to rig the votes giving the control of the Illinois Teacher's Retirement
Fund to 9 individuals three of which turned out to be contributors to Obama.

The corrupt members who were appointed included three doctors who contributed to
Obama. Michel Malek gave Obama $10,000 on June 30, 2003 and donated $25,000 to
Blagojevich on July 25, 2003. Malek also gave Obama another $500 in September
2003. Isn’t it strange that these contributions to Obama made contributions close to the
date the .... Planning Act was passed (June 27, 2003) and that these three
contributors were appointed to Board of Directors

Fortunee Massuda donated $25,000 to Blagojevich on July 25, 2003, and gave a total
of $2,000 to Obama on different dates. After he was appointed, Dr Imad Almanaseer
contributed a total of $3,000 to Obama. Almanaseer did not give money to Blagojevich.

When the first pay-to-play scheme was put in play, and the application for approval of a
new hospital was submitted, the Department of Human Services, along with four other
Illinois agencies, sent recommendations that the project should be approved even
though experts said the hospital was not needed. (I believe the money for the hospital
was suppose to come from the Teacher’s Retirement Funds and I presume the builder
would be contractors which Obama had represented or other contractors connected to
the Chicago Outfit. Chicago Outfit being Chicago's governor, senator, mayor or any
elected official that might be involved in a this Pay to Play scheme)

During the trial, Rezko’s attorney presented an email exchange to the jury that hinted at
Obama's role in setting up the scheme. The exchange showed that Obama and seven
other top Illinois politicians consulted on the legislation passed in 2003 and were
involved in recommending the members for the board and as I previously stated three
doctors who made contributions to Obama were appointed.
What would Obama say about this? Just a coincidence .... possibly or There are
many people that contribute to my political funds and I wasn't aware that any of these
doctors had contributed. It is just a coincidence many people who have contribute to
me hold different positions in government.
