BLANCO WON'T RUN FOR RE-ELECTION AS GOVERNOR OF LOUISIANA. BREAUX EXPECTED TO ANNOUNCE TOMORROW

>

As expected Governor Kathleen Blanco, who many in Louisiana blame for the state's problems in coping with the effects-- before and after-- of Hurricane Katrina has announced she will not run for re-election. The Bush Regime and its media allies have done all they could to push the blame for its own massive failures on to Governor Blanco. A far right GOP congressional hack, Bobby Jindal, is the Republican front-runner for his party's nomination.

An old time Democratic pol, former Senator ">John Breaux, now an Inside-the-Beltway lobbyist (as well as a quintessential DLC good ole boy) is likely to be the Democratic nominee and is thought to be able do what Blanco could not: beat Jindal. Republicans have claimed that Breaux is no longer a resident of Louisiana and ineligible to run.

Good god, you would think that post-Katrina would produce at least some genuine progressives in Louisiana. The truth is both Blanco and Breaux are dlc swill and it is better to have an honest to got conservative in there than them. They are antichoice and pro social security privatiztion. At least if the republican takes those positions the democrats in the state house will fight them.
