HEY LIMBO MAN! HOW LOW CAN YOU GO ?
>
BushCo has been very successful at few things other than subverting the U.S. electoral process. They have taken control of the way votes are counted and have been able to insert the most incompetent and unqualified and venal leader this country has ever known into power. They have been spectacularly unsuccessful in doing anything useful, like preserving peace and security and the general well-being... you know, the stuff governments are mandated to do. And now, with 2 BushCo masterminds, Karl Rove and Dick Cheney, looking at possible treason indictments, they have been too distracted to bolster the polls showing how most Americans disagree with virtually everything BushCo stands for and distrust everything that comes from the Regime.
Even as the semi-official BushCo propaganda machine has been touting a turn around in Bush's plummeting approval ratings-- Limbaugh, Fox "News" and the whole Amen Chorus of bought-and-paid-for fake preachers lie about it daily-- the newest CBS News Poll shows that Bush's overall job approval rating has reached the lowest ever, and evaluations of his handling of Iraq, the economy, terrorism (his tailor-made issue that Rove had played like a fiddle in the past), are also at all-time lows. More Americans than at any time since he stole the presidency think he does not share their priorities. Only 26% of Americans think the country is going in the right direction. And the big number? Bush's overall approval rating has sunk to 37%.
It may be hard to believe that over a third of our fellow citizens think this corrupt and incompetent authoritarian lowlife is doing a satisfactory job-- especially when you consider that his policies benefit less than 5% of the population-- but this is the state of disrepair into which our country has fallen (poor diet, moral bankruptcy acerbated by false religionism, news replaced by cheap entertainment being among the root causes). Looking at the specifics of people's dissatisfaction with Bush, paints an even gloomier picture for the Regime. Only 32% approve of the way he's handling the economy and an identically small percentage approve of the way he's handling the war in Iraq. Americans' outlook for the economy is the worst it has been since Bush stole the White House (the first time) and a growing number of Americans want U.S. troops to leave Iraq as soon as possible, rather than stay the course, and the highest percentage ever thinks the United States should have stayed out of Iraq in the first place. Soon even Democratic senators are going to start paying attention. That same 32% also thinks Bush shares their priorities.
There is continued dismay about Bush's stunning lack of leadership abilities: 52% now say feel confident enough to state the obvious: that Bush has no strong leadership qualities. And almost half the country has no confidence in the appointees he has chosen for government jobs. As far as the Republican-controlled Congress... well Bush's approval almost looks good compared to how badly DeLay and his gang is looked at. Only 31% approve of the way Congress is doing its job. (43% of people have a favorable view of Democratic congressmen and 37% have a favorable view of Republican congressmen. Imagine if we actually had an opposition party!)
