SUPER TUESDAY RESULTS-- LIVEBLOGGING

>

I'll keep this updated as more info comes in.

4pm (PT)- CNN just projected Obama as the winner in Georgia, a great start. Young voters did it for him. Too close to call among the wingnuts but it looks like McCain will win narrowly. (He hasn't taken a single state with 40% anywhere.)

I'll spare you the almost always wrong exit poll nonsense.

9 states close at 5pm (PT): Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Tennessee. CNN immediately projected Illinois for Obama and McCain, Oklahoma for Clinton, Connecticut for McCain and Massachusetts for Romney. New Jersey Republicans gave all their delegates to McCain.

Funny, when CNN's panelists discussed McCain's win in Connecticut they attributed it-- in part-- to Lieberman. In discussing the close race between Hillary and Obama... not a mention of Lieberman. Connecticut is the first state where Republicans identifying themselves as "conservatives" have broken-- albeit weakly (44-43% against Willard)-- for McCain. Voters were asked how they view Lieberman in Connecticut. The results:

Republicans-
70% favorable
27% unfavorable

Democrats-
32% favorable
66% unfavorable

Tennessee just got called for Clinton. Arkansas just closed and CNN called the state for Clinton and Huckabee, as expected. Delware just got called for McCain.

UPDATE ON IL-14

This is shaping up to be a rout. The first 5 precincts reporting went to Laesch in a landslide and this was quickly followed by 4 precincts in northern Kane County, also for Laesch. Kane is the county where this contest between grassroots progressives and reactionary Insiders will be determined.

Kansas has a caucus tonight-- for Democrats only. And the turnout is HUGE. I know I said I wouldn't bother you with exit polls but this one is hillarious: Willard is tying McCain in... ARIZONA.

As expected, Hillary carried New York. The 281 delegates will be apportioned by congressional district. Delaware went to Obama!

Turn out has been gigantic for Democrats. When I voted today, the lady at my polling station said she was shocked by how many people were voting. She said they're all motivated by their dislike of Bush.

As expected, McCain took NY, a winner-take-all state for Republicans. CNN just projected Alabama for Obama. MSNBC is projecting Massachusetts for Hillary but CNN says it's too close to call.

It looks like Pera is not overcoming the advantage of Lipinksi's incumbency. The Daley Machine pulled out all the stops for Lipinksi and Pera didn't have a strong enough ground operation to compete. Meanwhile every precinct that has reported north and west of IL-03, in IL-14, is strengthening John Laesch's lead over the Blue Dog shill. Dan Seals is winning big in IL-10.

CNN just projected New Jersey for Clinton. Oklahoma went for McCain (with Willard a distant third) and Utah went to Romney and Obama. North Dakota's caucus went for Obama.

UPDATE: IL-14 RESULTS COMING IN SLOWLY

Results so far with just a smattering of precincts:

Kane County
Laesch 33%
Foster 38%

DuPage County
Laesch 41%
Foster 52%

Kendall County
Laesch 56%
Foster 30%

DeKalb County

Foster 35%

Lee County
Laesch 48%
Foster 40%

Henry County
Laesch 56%
Foster 30%

Whiteside County

Foster

Bureau County

Meanwhile, in that other race, Kansas is projected for Obama (by a landslide) and it looks like Idaho is going for Obama too. Connecticut went for Obama.

IL-14 still has a Republican edge. Best wishes to Laesch though.

Off Hufpo, I hope John goes independent against Foster and Oberweis and beats them around the head with his youth, energy, truth and a VET for a CHANGE!

"UPDATE: 9:40pm: Howie just got off the phone with John Laesch. He's down by 365 votes and everything is counted but the absentee votes. (The early ballots are counted now.)"
