Early yesterday, the NY Times published a piece Trump's Choice Of A Partisan For Top Intelligence Post Rattles Critics. Zzzzzzzzz. Wake me up if any Republicans other than Susan Collins votes NO. In fact, wake me if she does. The Times asserts the job of director of national intelligence "is supposed to be perhaps the most nonpartisan job in Washington and the Señor Trumpanzee "has selected one of the fiercest political warriors in the capital," right-wing crackpot John Ratcliffe (Rep Rat for short), who's from a godforsaken, rat-infested hellhole where Texas meets Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The Times reminds its readers that Rep. Rat "has established himself during his nearly five years in Congress as a tough partisan… A relentless critic of the Russia investigation, Mr. Ratcliffe has shared some of Mr. Trump’s views and earned praise from critics of the so-called deep state of government bureaucrats... Democrats have said he is unqualified and too overtly political, and even some Republicans privately said they thought [Rep. Rat] was the wrong choice, according to people familiar with their thinking. Senator Richard M. Burr, Republican of North Carolina and the Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, waited nearly a day to publicly congratulate [Rep. Rat], a subtle sign of discontent with the shake-up. But Republicans on the committee, which will vote on whether to send the nomination to the full Senate, are highly unlikely to buck Mr. Trump." Yeah... highly-- unless they find a photo of him and Bill Sanderson (R-TN) making whoopee.

There's one way to explain this that could almost make Trump look good. Trump has-- correctly-- diagnosed the job he just gave Rep. Rat another bureaucratic level of wastefulness. Maybe he's hoping that by appointing someone as utterly unqualified as Rat, he can persuade Congress to abolish the position altogether. But I doubt it.

CNN reporters, Ted Barrett, Manu Raju and Jeremy Herb, are hoping to make a mountain out of a molehill by insinuating that there is even the vaguest of chances that enough Republicans will oppose Rat to derail the nomination. They won't. In fact, it's far more likely that putative Democrats Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin will vote to confirm than that we'll see any Republicans vote not to. They called Republicans response to the nomination "tepid." shorthand for saying the senators were puking all over the floor. "The handful of GOP senators who initially put out public statements about the change mostly praised the professionalism and integrity of the departing Coats," not just Blunt and Collins-- who are on the Intel Committee-- but also MoscowMitch. MM snapped at the CNN trio that "When I have something to say about the nominee, I will let you know."

John Cornyn, another rightwing Texan like Rep. Rat went a little bit further in voicing "some concerns" by pointing out that Rat has no experience in intelligence. Burr, who's deathly afraid of Trump, supposedly told some white house advisors that considers Rep. Rat "too political for the post."

One thing everyone in Washington knows is that there is no room for anyone in the Trump Regime with a shred of patriotism or integrity and everyone I know in Congress who I reached yesterday said they feel Rat fits right in with the grade of people Trump is stocking the government with now.
