Midnight Meme Of The Day!'

>

by Noah

Poet, painter, and socialist activist Lawrence Ferlinghetti is a 100 year old American treasure and a font of acquired wisdom. His art, his activism, and his support for other artists and their art have changed innumerable lives for the better.

Kahlil Gibran's original version of the "Pity The Nation" poem was created in 1933. Ferlinghetti's adaptation dates from 2007 when Ferlinghetti was a mere 88 years of age. It seems more appropriate with each passing day. However, we must always remember that although pity has its use, its effect is only fleeting. As Ferlinghetti well knows, the results of courage and action have greater possibilities. Too bad they are in such short supply among our so-called leaders, and us, even in the face of unequalled massive corruption and worse, treason.

courage and action seem to be only for Nazis.

For the left, courage/action would be useful only if we were smart enough to do something useful. we're not.
So the dearth of both is of no relevance.

Voting ceases to have meaning when the owners of the voting machines are partisan party assets.

Remember when Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold Inc., told Ohio Republicans in a 2003 fund-raising letter that he is "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to [President Bush] next year" ? Just because we've gone through four additional electoral cycles doesn't mean that the problem has gotten better. It is demonstrable that the problem has gotten worse.

voting also ceases to have meaning when our courts regularly "find" that counting votes should not be done in order to determine the genuine winner.

And all of these "voting ceases to have meaning" because voters have NEVER insisted that voting have meaning.

2000 had gooned counting in FL and OH that we absolutely can prove. Did anyone protest, march, riot?

well, yeah... the Nazis hired agitators to harass the florida recount until the supreme court decided that counting votes should not be done THIS TIME ONLY so that THEIR winner wouldn't be named the loser.

Nobody on the left made a peep either in FL or OH or anywhere else.

And then cheney gutted the bill of rights. again, nobody did dick.
