For today, Tuesday 2/26, a reminder of two Tuesday attacks on The United States Of America; one attack was the product of Saudi state-sponsored terrorism. The other attack was the product of Russian intelligence efforts. Now, both governments are enjoying an "extra special relationship" with the Trump Crime Family and its loyal supporters and accomplices in the Republican Party. You might even say ownership rather than relationship.
Retaliation for 9/11 but an embrace for 11/9. The Russians were more sophisticated. They knew they could buy inaction with money-laundered "campaign contributions" via the NRA. "Moral" of the story? The next time an adversary attacks America, all they have to do to avoid retaliation is OK some hotel construction and send a few checks.
Meanwhile, Americans snore.

Retaliation for 9/11 was against the wrong country though, yes? The Bushies were in bed with the Saudis, too, let us not forget.
the attack on the usa that enabled cheney/bush to allow 9/11 was the day the supremes, SDOC most glaringly, voted to stop the florida recount on very legalistic grounds that amounted to 'it would harm the loser who was declared the winner to count the actual votes'.
and, yeah, voters snored all the way through until they watched replays of the planes hitting the twin towers. Then they snored a whole lot more.
And Noah's "retaliation" is sheepdoggery. We never even pondered retaliating against Bandar Bush's people for actually doing it. We were already in the midst of cheney's horseshit publicity campaign to invade Iraq, so that's what we did.
It would be equivalent to Poland invading Denmark after the nazis' false-flag border incursion thingie. But that's history-n-shit. I apologize.
6:01, I think bin Laden's "Saudi state sponsored" troops would consider 2500 pound bunker buster bombs hitting their caves as direct retaliation and gun ships mowing them down, too. Bin Laden, himself a Saudi with connections to the royals probably thought he was being retaliated against when Seal Team Six arrived at his bedroom door. Cheney, Bush and their foreign and domestic allies have been covered in other DWT posts for years. What do you not understand about memes not being complete history books?

yes, Richard, we did retaliate, finally. It took years. and, if you believe the reports, the 'stand down' at Bora Bora allowed OBL to escape to Pakistan and live several more years. that 'stand down' also prevented our 'retaliation' to succeed long enough to also allow our 'retaliation' against Iraq to proceed, kill a million and create ISIS... all for no reason except to give cheney and his pals an opportunity to make a shitload of money and maybe dominate Iraqi oil... or did I misread my PNAC.

Bora Bora is a Pacific Island. The standoff was at TORA Bora. The escape of bin Laden was pre-arranged, and the US troops assaulting that place were issued practice ammunition which couldn't reach the Taliban defensive lines. US troops were thus outgunned. Told to me by a soldier deployed there, angry that their mission was planned so poorly.
my bad on the typo. And it WAS pre-arranged to not succeed. But the reason needs to be understood.
PNAC (cheney, Rumsfeld, etc) wanted to invade Iraq for their oil, had been ginning up excuses to gain public support (including killing a few hapless innocents with US DOD anthrax). But 9/11 happened before they could deploy in Iraq, so they needed to pretend to go after OBL in Afghanistan first. They made a token effort purposely so that they could still do Iraq.
They couldn't catch or kill OBL because then Iraq would have been pointless, according to their narrative. Nor could we catch/kill OBL until after Iraq was 'done'. same reason.
