Another Vision Of America-- In Virginia

>

We've watched and heard an awful lot of manufactured hatred and deep-seated ugliness in the last few days-- expressed as a function of greedy, selfish corporations who want to suck us all dry-- and a political party desperate for a way to stop its well-deserved free-fall. There will be plenty more in the weeks to come as the GOP/Big Insurance Hate Machine, stoked by the Limbaughs and Hannitys and Becks and Dobbses, gears up for a fight against America. As author Timothy Egan pointed out in the NY Times a few days ago, "America must fail in order for President Obama to fail."

But there's another, more uplifting vision of our country besides the one you're seeing in the blind, angry outbursts from the self-righteous and "a-little-knowledge-can-be-a-dangerous-thing" Ron Paul cadres across the country. I thought this video of a Creigh Deeds rally in Virginia captured it pretty well. This is my America:

This is our America too. Thank you for a light in the darkness.

I remember my grandmother's words the first time I was confronted by a bully: "just because they are bigger than you and louder than you does not make them right."

I cannot believe that someone would seek to advance the cause of tyranny by using slanderous propaganda, and claiming that they are exposing the truth. A little knowledge is very dangerous, because it allows people who know the true logistics of a situation to prey on the less knowledgeable, by manipulating the the situation to work in they're favor. I simply don't want politicians that presume to tell people what's what based on face value, without defining they're methodology by which they're motivations are defined. Ron Paul has always defended freedom, over tyranny, by challenging the government every time the government decides to challenge the civil liberties of the people. Ron Paul puts his reputation, and political career on the line "for what?", "to halt the erosion of our American Freedoms bestowed upon us at birth by writ of our founding fathers." He has never tried to implement a program to restrict rights, and he does not discriminate against minorities(in most cases, if not all he defends minorities). I simply want to ask what are we fighting for, and what are we fighting against, because if you look at the big picture I think most would find that our contentions lie not with "Republicans", or "Democrats", but moreover "both parties reign" in what was ultimately not intended to be a two party system like the british parliamentary system which we revolted against in 1776. The American people deserve a voice, and everyone deserves to be heard, the unfortunate aspect to all of this is that both Republicans, and the Democrats resound off of each other to achieve the same ends, utilizing different means. We need more parties, more input, because with a greater voice we will have greater change. Right now people should be considering the polar effect which has encompassed American politics. Just eight years ago we had a Republican Majority, and a mass majority of Americans said that they felt better about the America, because they were unsure about policies laid forth by Democrats, and they felt more secure given the tenants of the Republican party. So what happened? The Republican majority went forth in advancing all the Democrat policy reforms of the nineties(which by the way are derivative of previous Rep. policy reforms), and grant it Republican supporters where to high on morality to see the bad things Republican Representatives were doing, "the same exact situation is happening today with Democrats", this is not "change for the people" it's change for the conglomerate oligarchy. This time a majority Americans say that they feel better about America, because they were unsure about the policies laid forth by Republicans(Policies which were laid forth by Democrats, which were laid forth by Republicans, which were laid forth by Democrats, which were laid forth by politicians with an agenda, who knew that in order to accomplish a goal that may surmise opportunities, and infringe on freedoms of the common people to give power and, special privileges to a few.), and they feel more secure given the tenants of the Democratic party. In closing I just want to ask; are supporters of the Democrats going to be just like supporters of the Republicans?, and what if the Democrats turn out to just be more popularized versions of they're Republican counterparts seeking the same ends by proposing different means.

The only solution that I see is taking a serious look at third parties, because just like banks have become "to big to fail", so have the two parties have become "to big to fail", and in terms of adequacy both are lost, because "our freedom of choice is gone when the firms and institutions of which success brought about by freedom of choice becomes success brought about through the coercion by which the ability to create choice is mediated, and the choices given are deemed fit by the firms and institutions, and not by the people, for the sake of firms and institutions, not for the sake of the people." So if for any reason at all Democratic candidates fail to live up to real change vote for a third party candidate(independent, libertarian, green, constitution). And remember to voice your opinion, be well.....

I don't see it like that at all. I think that this long comment has a few good points. Now I'm not giving up hope yet, but if Obama doesn't really bring change what are "we the people going to do". I have never supported a politician more in my life, but facts are facts. Do you want to support the same policies as Bush.

Whatever, what is real. At least when Bush screwed up people voiced out their anger whether or not they were republicans or not. Today what do democrats do when they hear something bad about Obama, no answer- oh that's right cause they don't do anything. This is coming from a democrat to so don't give me that republican crap, I just wanted change.

Hey, I don't know who is on here, but I think that the message is that third parties are more likely to do what they say, because they are not big and corrupt. now can we all get along again.

At 11:46 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sure we can get along, just admit the Democrats are in the right, then you can leave, and go to wherever you go republican scum go to

I just want the truth, and I feel like after all my support the democrats are lying to me to, and even worse I don't want to return to the republicans, but that long comment is right what do we have against Ron Paul, after all doesn't he challenge the republicans on a lot of fundamental issues that that Democratic supporters agree with. Has anybody looked this guy up? does anybody actually follow what he does? I feel so much like I did when I was against the republicans in 2003, the only thing is I supported the democrats, and now I can't help but feel indifferent. I am sooo lost

Politicians will never be the worlds problem solvers for their main concern is getting reelected. Politics are based on scarcity not enough to go around they decide who gets it.

The real truth is that their is abundance. We have more energy coming from the Star Sun than we can ever spend and intellect only increases we always learn more not less.

What ever needs to be done can be done.

Humanity must recognize the overall success of humanity can only be realized by the collective good. It is time to bring everyone up and no one down. A perfect example of this would be universal health care for all.

Our design science revolution which is ongoing is giving us the tools to accomplish these goals:

1. Universal health care for all.
2. luxury housing for all.
3. Transportation for all and freedom to use it.
4. Work for all which is the only true religion.
5. Production of wholesome and nutritious food which goes hand in hand with health care.
6. Education for all.
7. You put others on this list.

50% of humanity lives better today than the richest monarch did prior to 1900 so we have already made great progress. The folks at this rally also give us great hope in the best of our abilities.

Humanity is in its final exam and Republican vs Democrat or conservative vs liberal is not the question. Nature is intent on making us a one world humanity and a success. Let us hope we pass.

"just because they are bigger than you and louder than you does not make them right."

Might doesn't make "right."

But being "right" is small consolation when the bullies are kicking your ass...

and what if the Democrats turn out to just be more popularized versions of they're Republican counterparts seeking the same ends by proposing different means.

What do you mean, "What if...?" You have stumbled on the big dark secret: both the Pukes and the Dims DO have the same goals: more globalism, more corporatism, more surveillance, less services, less safety net, less justice.

How dare you!!! Obama would never be like Bush! Never!!!!!!

Didja forget the "/snark"?
