Comedy This Morning: The Sotomayor hearings -- "And they say Al Franken is the comedian in the Senate" (Matt Davies)

*You'll recall that Matt Davies posts his cartoons on his Lower Hudson Valley Journal News blog with some bit of background commentary on the creation of each. Here's what he has to say about this offering:

"A bunch of powerful white males lecturing a Hispanic female judge on racial sensitivity is rich. And they say Al Franken is the comedian in the Senate."

JUST ONE QUESTION ABOUT THE GOP
SENATORS' DISGRACEFUL PERFORMANCE

As I've already noted, "It's always possible that Judge Sotomayor's opponents will tell the truth about something (anything), but don't hold your breath." So far, I'll stand by that. Still, I can't help wondering, is there any reason why the earth doesn't simply open up and swallow these blobs of protoplasmic filth?

Okay, maybe one more question, about professional racist Jeff Sessions. Given that every word that comes out of his mouth is an out-and-out lie, how is that his toxic carcass isn't simply dragged out of the hearing room and deposited in Liars' Prison? At the very least, shouldn't he be sent to sit in the corner with the biggest dunce cap that can be found?

CNN Urges Senators to Ask Sotomayor
More Questions About Michael Jackson

CNN criticized the conduct of the Senate Judiciary Committee today, arguing that the senators were spending too much time probing Supreme Court nominee Sonya Sotomayor about her legal philosophy instead of asking her questions about Michael Jackson.

"Our viewers want to know who's going to have custody of Blanket and the other Jackson children, and none of that is being addressed in these hearings," said CNN's Larry King. "Frankly, our viewers are watching these proceedings in disbelief."

On his "Situation Room" program yesterday, Wolf Blitzer echoed those sentiments, adding, "It's hard to believe that Sonya Sotomayor has been grilled for two days straight and the subject of Debbie Rowe hasn't come up once."

CNN is also demanding that there be additional autopsies of Michael Jackson and additional funerals, if possible. More here.

There are not words to adequately describe what an ass Jess Sessions is. I even ranted about him on my spiritual blog...it's like an overwhelming urge to vomit.

Yes, Celestite -- and those are his GOOD qualities!

And THAT Celestite is why the Minority GOP party, now represented by racist crackers and old white men in general, will be out of power for Decades.

Just when I thought that maybe Alabama was catching up with recent centuries, along comes Sen. Sessions to pull me back to reality. What a bizarre man! And, what about the people who voted him in?

Yes, Ida, Alabama voters have elected the Last Confederate Senator twice, and I'm not aware of any serious opposition on the horizon for 2010.

I keep looking at and listening to him and thinking it's the actor Henry Gibson playing a cartoon senator, but the joke never comes.

I would still rather have Henry Gibson on the SJC. He's certainly more qualified, though the joke judge he played on BOSTON LEGAL seems sort of like the kind of judge our Jeff might have been if he'd made it onto the federal bench.
