Obama Would Beat Palin, Romney, Gingrich... But In Oklahoma Jim Inhofe Would Beat Him Hands Down. O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A, Oklahoma, OK!

Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' 'tween yer ears
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma, Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky
Public Policy Polling released two new polls today. The first dealt with the public's perceptions of Obama's job performance and the title gave it away: Obama Continues Solid Standing Looking Forward. "Democrats pretty universally like him, Republicans pretty universally dislike him, and his standing with independents pretty much splits the difference. 84% of Democrats but only 19% of Republicans approve of the job he’s doing, with the independents going 55/38, nearly identical to his overall national numbers of 55/36."
Maybe they'll pull a rabbit out of the hate but most of the wanna be GOP nominees don't look very promising. Obama shellacs them all:
Obama v Huckabee- 52-39%
Obama v Gingrich- 53-36%
Obama v Romney- 53-35%
Obama v Palin- 56-37%
Now the other poll... if only the rest of the country was anything like Oklahoma... they could do away with labor unions and Social Security and reinstate slavery. Obama' not all that popular in the most reactionary state in America. Only 34% of the voters backed Obama last November, his worst performance. And the folks haven't changed their notions. 38% approve of his job performance and 56% disapprove, Obama's worst numbers anywhere (other than Iran and North Korea).
PPP also asked respondents whether they thought President Obama or talk radio host Rush Limbaugh has a better vision for America. 56% said Limbaugh while just 44% picked the President.
“This question is a pretty good gauge of a state’s conservatism,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “There are not a lot of places that would say they agree more with where Rush Limbaugh thinks the nation should be headed than the President.”
Despite the fact that they prefer his vision, only 39% of Oklahomans have a favorable opinion of Limbaugh.
On Capitol Hill Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe is generally considered the Senate's most pitiful dullard and a tragic waste of a Senate seat. He won re-election last year with 57% of the vote, and his job approval rating is 14 points higher than the President's-- 52%. Go figure. At least he isn't as clownish-- or self-loathing-- as Michael Steele.

Oklahoma is one of those states that makes living in Texas a little less embarrassing.
The old line is that if Oklahoma didn't suck so bad, Texas would fall in the ocean.
