REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN GEOFF DAVIS LEADS A KLAN RALLY IN KENTUCKY-- BUT WITHOUT THE SHEETS

Lucas captures Geoff Davis at the KY GOP din-din Saturday
Some of the most reactionary elements of Kentucky's extreme right got together Saturday night for their annual Lincoln Day dinner. Local congressional incumbent, Geoff Davis-- a kind of male Mean Jean Schmidt who is well remembered for once having referred to decorated ex-Marine John Murtha as "despicable, dishonorable, uninformed, unhistorical, anti-intellectual and, frankly, un-American"-- was joined by Senators Bunning and McConnell (who bailed on his own military service in about a week, allegedly being asked to leave after fondling a private's privates). The three of them, apparently unaware people were paying attention, showed how out of touch they are with Kentucky's moderate voters. They were particularly eager to go after the Democrat they fear most: Barack Obama.
"I fear the two Democrats, one in particular, is incredibly naive," McConnell said, adding that five years ago when the U.S. Senate voted to go to war in Iraq, Obama was in the Illinois state senate. "This is the big leagues now. At what point do you turn off the demagoguery and become a serious, responsible leader?"
U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, a Hebron Republican, compared Obama and his message for change similar to a "snake oil salesman."
He said in his remarks at the GOP dinner that he also recently participated in a "highly classified, national security simulation" with Obama.
"I'm going to tell you something: That boy's finger does not need to be on the button," Davis said. "He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country."
Before we discuss Congressman Davis' vicious racism, I want to say something about Miss McConnell's "big leagues" remark. McConnell has been the single worst impediment to implementing the will of the American people that we wind down the disastrous occupation of Iraq. He has led filibuster after filibuster to thwart the will of a bipartisan majority of Senators seeking a way to end American participation in an Iraqi civil war that has no military solution. In Washington he's known as Bush's Chief Senate Obstructionist. While Senators Obama and Clinton have reached out across the aisle to work out a responsible solution to ending the war, McConnell has been a consistent supporter of every single point on the heinous Bush-Cheney agenda, perhaps a good explanation for why he has a weak job approval rating that makes him vulnerable to defeat in November.
Now, about Davis referring to Senator Obama as "boy." According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the biggest newspaper in his district "Davis is taking criticism because referring to an African-American as a "boy" is considered by many as racist and pejorative." Davis claims he "misspoke"-- as convincingly as Hillary did when she said her idiotic lies about her trip to Bosnia was also some misspeak.
Davis is probably best known as the handmaiden of the predatory lending business, at least by people who follow how specific industries manage to buy themselves a congressman to watch their selfish and greed-obsessed interests. Davis gets the most legalized bribes from predatory lenders and in return he does their bidding in Congress. His offensive marks at the Lincoln Day dinner-- of all places-- was answered by a stunned Obama campaign.
"It's hard to tell what is more outrageous-- Representative Davis' condescending and personal attack, or his absurd and offensive claim that Barack Obama is not prepared to defend America. Geoff Davis may hide behind offensive tough talk, but he has marched in lockstep with Bush-McCain policies that have devastated our national security while Barack Obama has stood up against a misguided war in Iraq and worked with respected Republicans like Dick Lugar and Chuck Hagel to secure loose weapons and nuclear materials from terrorists."
According to the A.P. Davis has apologized to Obama. He said it was "a poor choice of words." I wonder if he also sent an apology to Hillary. While saying her candidacy seemed to be teetering on the brink, Davis, who may have had a bit too much to drink, sneered “I hear she hasn’t been this worried since a new Hooters opened” near her home.
