BRUCE LUNSFORD-- MORE BAGGAGE THAN SAMSONITE

>

There's someone Inside the Beltway, someone originally from Flatbush in Brooklyn, someone with a reptilian brain, who, for some inexplicable reason, feels he should be the arbiter of who the Democratic nominee against his fellow Insider Mitch McConnell should be. Lizard Man thinks he knows best... for Kentucky. I guess that's because Brooklyn is so much like Kentucky, or maybe because Inside the Beltway is so... so... bluegrass.

DSCC Chair Chuck Schumer has decided that Bruce Lunsford, someone who has been repeatedly rejected by grassroots Kentucky Democrats as unfit-- for great reasons-- to represent them, is the only acceptable Democrat to run against Mitch McConnell. New polling data released today shows that Kentucky Democrats haven't come to the same conclusion as The Alien. In fact, there are enough Kentuckians (25% of likely Democratic voters) who have said that "under no circumstances" would they consider ever casting a vote for fake Dem Lunsford, guarateeing that he will never be elected. Lunsford has a high name recognition-- most of it very negative-- because he's run for governor a few times and because his name has constantly been in the media attached to corruption scandals that have plagued him his entire business life. Everyone I know in Kentucky thinks of Lunsford as a serial criminal and as a Republican-in-Democratic clothing (high-priced Democratic clothing).

In the 2 times he ran for governor he spent over $14 million for a total of 74,000 votes -- and all those votes were last year when he had the extremely popular Attorney General, Greg Stumbo, on his ticket as Lt. Governor. The first time he ran (2003) he smeared his Democratic opponent, Congressman Ben Chandler, and then dropped out when it became apparent that no one in the state planned on voting for him. He then called a now infamous press conference with his good buddies Mitch McConnell and Ernie Fletcher and urged Democrats to vote for Fletcher for governor, instead of Chandler, who went on to lose narrowly. Lunsford has lavished tens of thousands of dollars on his Republican buddies, dollars that smell very badly from the highly questionable business dealings he's been involved with.

Maybe the Brooklyn Lizard doesn't know this stuff. But he's already chased one candidate out of the race, Andrew Horne, and has strong-armed a number of labor unions in DC to force their Kentucky locals to endorse the much-hated, anti-labor Lunsford.

On March 1 the non-Lunsford candidate for Senate, Greg Fischer, spoke at the Kentucky Democratic Central Executive Committee in Frankfort and without mentioning Lunsford by name he spoke in a very straightforward manner to the committee, more straightforward than some of them were accustomed to or comfortable with. "I'm fighting back now, also. Because there's powers in Washington D.C.-- you know, led by Chuck Schumer, and you all are hearing this just as well as I am-- that he's trying to manipulate this election in Kentucky. He's trying to force on us someone that is not a contrast to Mitch McConnell. Because we need a contrast candidate to beat Mitch McConnell. We need somebody with a clean record, a clean background, somebody that will listen..."

Someone immediately snitched Greg out to the Lizard Man who doesn't appreciate being criticized by mere mortals and hates his diktats being questioned by anyone. Already furious that the Kentucky chapter of the American Federation of Teachers had disobeyed his command and endorsed Fischer over Lunsford, Schumer lashed out childishly, through one of his flacks: "This campaign needs be about defeating Mitch McConnell and bringing change to Washington. Democrats should be focused on that, and not on launching personal attacks against other Democrats." Change to Washington? The best change Washington could ever have would be cleaning out the Insider scum like Schumer and not bringing in more of that same ilk-- like Lunsford.

When asked for an explanation of Fischer's remarks, one of his campaign team, Kim Geveden, explained diplomatically, "I think he was taking a shot at the politics of Washington and the way they are. It's clear to anyone who follows politics in the state Kentucky that the Senator from New York and his folks are trying to force upon the voters of Kentucky a failed candidate who has more baggage than Samsonite. We need a fresh candidate with a clean record who offers bold ideas and new solutions. ... I'm sure people in the beltway will try to portray it as whining but it is not whining. It's fighting back. ... As Senator, [Greg Fischer is] going to fight everyday for the working-class voters of Kentucky. And if that means he has to take on the power brokers, then so be it."

Well he just took on a big mean, cold-blooded one, the sharp-clawed and very vindictive Senator from Wall Street. Fortunately Schumer doesn't vote in Kentucky and Kentucky voters who participated in the above-mentioned poll do not think Lunsford's the right choice. When interviewees were read positive statements about each candidate (provided by their own campaigns), Fischer polled 44% against Lunsford's 39%. This one stinks as bad as when Schumer tried shoving DLCer John Morrison down Montana Democrats' throats, only to tell him to take a hike, while they nominated and then elected Jon Tester to the U.S. Senate.

This is not really a comment about this post. But I wonder when Steve Novick in Oregon will get some love. He is running against someone else who has been anointed by the Democratic establishment. Steve is a much better candidate than the one they picked. You've got to talk to Steve Novick. I know he'll impress you. And he needs the help now. Thanks.

Where did you get the polling data on Lunsford?

It was a private poll done by Global Strategy Group, a top notch firm.

Nice to see Fischer in the lead after their profiles are read. I mean, Kentucky Democrats should know how much of a loser and fake-Democrat Lunsford is by now. Man, I don't know what Schmuck Schumer is smoking, but whatever it is, I want some of that, because it apparently makes you dream impossible dreams.

My name is also "Lunsford". I am "Edwin F. Lunsford". I am not a descendant from the same line as "Bruce", but I would certainly be honored if I were. Evenstill, I am extremely proud of what he has accomplished thus far in his life.

From what I've read about him, it appears to me that he has been much more motivated by his desire to help people than he has been driven my any profit incentive.

I find in only typical that average citizens immediately assume that when someone does well that they have only attained their successes by ill-gotten means. In a world where dis-honesty seems to reward the unscrupulous, it is some what doubtful that a person could achieve the successes that "Bruce Lunsford" has without circumventing the law. However,I believe that, those persons who immediately take a negative attitude toward another persons accomplishments, are they themselves without the courage and integrity to even try to do anything worthwhile for their fellow man!

Edwin F.(Ed) Lunsford
