IS OBAMA TOUGH ENOUGH TO TAKE ON McCAIN?  YES... HE CAN; YES WE CAN

>

My friend Roland says he isn't very political. We've only been friends for 15-16 years so I'm not sure if he is or isn't. Mostly he just says things about politics to try to get a rise out of me-- and I'm easy. But even this hands-length, nonchalant Mainer doesn't fall for the "independent maverick" hype McCain has thrust down the throats of the American public ever since he was caught stuffing bribes up his ass as part of what was called the Keating 5. [Note, the other 4 senators caught in the grotesque banking corruption scandal with McCain, have had the decency to depart from the public stage, though several were far better public servants than he.] Anyway, McCain is the product of a well-oiled p.r. machine but Roland still refers to him as the grumpy old man who'll scream at you for stepping on his lawn. And if screaming doesn't work he'll call the cops. If the cops don't think walking on the lawn is serious enough to arrest all the kids in the neighborhood, he'll shoot a few.

Is Obama any match for this vicious and wily old coot? Remember, Obama's mentor, Holy Joe Lieberman, is McCain's closest advisor and non-gay confidant. Is Obama too nice of a guy to go after the slick but doddering grandpa from Arizona? Watch this video of Obama attacking McCain's political opportunism and judge for yourself.

Yeah, Obama has presented himself, successfully, as a healing figure-- which is very much what America wants after 8 years of Bush, Rove, Cheney and the vicious political divisiveness the far right has injected into American politics. But he promises to not be the same kind of pathetic punching bag the last Democratic presidential nominee turned into as soon as he was no longer facing fellow Democrats. "Somewhere along the line," Obama stated at the last debate, "the Straight Talk Express lost some wheels."

UPDATE: ABOUT THIS POWERFUL VIDEO

I'd like to see another campaign even try to come up with something that approaches this. will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas worked with videomaker Jesse Dylan. It's the best music video I can ever remember any campaign ever having.

If the race were between this video and Hillary's Golden Earring fiasco, it'd be a landslide for Obama.

Oh, Barack. Just when I think I'll never fall in love with another candidate, you rescue me from my cynicism.
