CHARLIE BROWN WELCOMES SOME NEW REPUBLICANS TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD

>

Republicans have been frantically searching for a candidate to put up against Charlie Brown now that Doolittle has formally given up the ghost of whatever was left of his scandal-racked political career. Several Republicans who had gotten in, like Assemblyman Ted Gaines and former mayor of Auburn, Doug Thornell, have already withdrawn with their tails between their legs. The GOP's latest is to bring in a couple of clownish carpetbaggers, both pals of Doolittle. One is a retired (defeated) congressman, Doug Ose, from the neighboring 3rd CD-- although he moved out of there as soon as his constituents rejected him... and moved to the 5th CD, where he lives now. The other is a far right extremist state senator (and multimillionaire) named Rico Oller, widely considered one of the least effective and most radical members of the state legislature... just what the citizens of CA-04 do not need after the trauma of Doolittle and his bribery cases.

Meanwhile, despite being a pretty Republican district, carefully designed that way in a gerrymander, Charlie Brown has endeared himself to folks across the partisan divide. He and his wife and much admired members of the community. Today he welcomed the newcomers into the race.
We welcome Doug Ose and Rico Oller to this race, and to the 4th Congressional District.  We believe that once both move into the district, they will grow to understand that voters are not looking for more partisan attacks, but leadership that puts the interests of this district and our country first.  Ultimately, the values of the 4th District, and the challenges facing our great nation demand leaders willing to put patriotism before partisanship, and I am proud to have dedicated my career in public service-- for 26 years in the military, 8 years with the Roseville Police Department, as a parent, and now as a candidate for Congress-- to this singular cause.
