Quote of the day: CNN's Crazy Glenn Beck continues to garner accolades from all over for his interview malfunction with Rep.-elect Keith Ellison

>

"Finally, a guy who says what people who aren't thinking are thinking!"
--Jon Stewart, on last night's Daily Show, referring to CNN's Crazy Glenn Beck

Howie has already reported on exciting new CNN hire Glenn Beck's recent on-air, er, brain malfunction, which earned him Keith Olbermann's Wednesday "Worst Person in the World" award. Last night Jon Stewart had his turn.

JON: But enough about the war in Iraq. There's also a battle being waged to protect our homeland. Because the Army can't be everywhere, it's up to concerned citizens like CNN's Glenn Beck to spot possible enemy combatants--like Keith Ellison, a newly minted Minnesota representative and the first Muslim ever elected to the U.S. Congress.

CRAZY GLENN: No offense, and I know Muslims, I like Muslims, I have been to mosques . . .
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

JON [with a puzzled, glowering expression]: This . . . uh . . . is not going to end well.

CRAZY GLENN: I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, "Sir, prove to me that you are not [stammers] working with our enemies, [extending palm--Ellison is smiling] and I know you're not. I'm not accusing you of being an enemy, but that's the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

JON: Finally, a guy who says what people who aren't thinking are thinking!

The congressman stuck to his guns. [Recoiling in horror.] N-not that he had guns!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
[video clip]
REP.-ELECT KEITH ELLISON: There's no one more patriotic than I am, and so I don't need to prove my patriotic stripes.

CRAZY GLENN: I understand that, and I'm not asking you to.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

JON: I'm just asking you to. Just like, as a conservative white guy, the burden is on me to prove to you that I've neither blown up a federal building with a fertilizer bomb nor sucked off a gay hooker in the men's room of a Denny's.

For the record, one thing The Daily Show edited out of the exchange was our Glenn pointing out that Ellison is a Democrat, and of course an advocate of cut-and-run in Iraq. Conceivably, Glenn would have been at least somewhat fearful if he had been talking to someone of those views who is a Lutheran, or a Pentecostal, or whatever the heck it is you call those hapless souls who until recently worshiped Pastor Ted.

Oh, of course not. It was religious bigotry of the sort that is supposed to be unacceptable in this country.

Curiously, our Glenn apparently remains employed by CNN. Maybe the honchos are scouring the nation's mental institutions for a politically contrasting crazy person they can hire to "balance" him.

There is no need for CNN to try and balance him...he is not a journalist...he has an opinion and he shares that opinion. it just so happens people actually appreciate a non-politically slanted view of world events...

"Non-politically slanted?" I'm sorry, are you talking about the same Glenn Beck? CNN's Glenn Beck? If this is neutrality, I'd hate like crazy to see what Beck's idea of screaming anti-Muslim concern trolling would look like.

I watched the entire Glen Beck special. Did anyone else?

I thought it was refreshing to see another perspective --- especially here in the US where the media doesn't report the entire story.

May shame fall upon thy Moustache! Glenn Beck rules. He's honest, funny, and informative and he has a huge audience so apparently the majority of the country agress with the guy. While I realize you libs do not believe in the bible that founded the United States of America some of us still do and always will. We belive that when the God of our fathers said "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me" he was serious about that. We have become a nation of many gods and many idols. Your trying to apease people that either want you and your country to convert to Islam or have you killed period no exceptions. History didnt start with you, go back and study a little history.

Glenn Beck is neither honest, nor funny, nor, God help us all, informative. And he is certainly NOT "non-politically slanted"! His slant is openly racist and far-right, and he does NOT deserve a broadcast outlet anywhere.

BTW, the bible is NOT the foundation of the United States. Look up the Treaty of Tripoli and learn some history yourself! It explicitly states that the United States are "in no way a Christian nation", and that they are at peace with "Mahometan" (i.e. MUSLIM) countries. Recall also that the US constitution says that all treaties are the supreme law of thte land. I'm assuming the Treaty of Tripoli, passed in 1797, still applies.

Oh, and all you anonymouses who love the Pasty White Boy sure proved Jon Stewart right. "Glenn Beck says what people who aren't thinking are thinking"--ROFLMAO.

Apparently Separation of Church and State means nothing to you bible-thumping overbearing people who can't seem to do anything aside from cram religion down the throats of people who don't want it. Glenn Beck is a nuisance. A loud-mouthed ill-informed jack ass who uses his media outlet to spout crackpot ideas such as, and listen closely here bible-thumper, "Jesus and Hitler had a lot in common: They both looked you straight in the eye". Now Jesus, be he real or fable, may have looked his disciples in the eye when he delivered the sermon on the mount, and Adolf Hitler looked the German people in the eye when he said "exterminate the Jews", I look my girlfriend in the eye when i say "i love you" but that does not in any way shape or form mean that we have anything in common! I doubt strongly that Jesus, son of your fictional God or not, would have condoned a man ordering the complete obliteration of the entire race of people for whom he died. But then again i guess God didn't really step in and assist in putting an end to the atrocities that went on during the holocaust either. What in the name of hell is wrong with you people! Glenn Beck is a threat to America and should be silenced.

To Bina-
Explain why your far-left views are any more acceptable?

You are a hypocrite, my dear.

To Angry Aethiest-
Please read the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.
Christ is real, did save us, and is here now. He didn't condemn us all to hell, some of us choose to be seperate from God. It's your choice to go to hell, not God forcing you to do so. You are given the way to be set free but God won't force you to take a gift you don't want.

Why expect Glenn Beck to speak the truth and remain calm and rational? These things are not in his nature.

Beck is not only dangerously opinionated, but he fudges the issues to turn them to his enemy's disadvantage.

Who are his enemies? They are the hard working men and women of this nation that are concerned about the welfare of others, unlike the selfish political movement that espouses the politics of greed, avarice, meanness of spirit and all the virtues that Ebenezer Scrooge possessed before he was turned into a normal, happy, caring, kind, and considerate human being.

It took three miracles to change Scrooge's miserable nature, but I'll warrant it takes many more miracles to make Beck into a person with whom you wouldn't mind if you chanced to become stuck in a lift for half-an hour.

What Beck is either unaware of or chooses to forget is that many of his co-coreligionists suffered from invective as rabid as his. The results were appalling. Men, children, and women were killed by the merciless mob that the anti-Mormon Christian ministers that were as intemperant as Beck is.

This kind of demagoguery has been responsible for millions of deaths throughout recorded history, and it usually starts with a lie, an outrageous opinion, usually at variance with the truth, and then a sly fool whipping people up into a frenzy to go after their hated enemies with cudgels, whips, swords, knives, guns, and rifles.

Did all Christians join the mobs of lunatics that dispossessed Mormons? NO, but those that did stopped at nothing, including the rape of young girls and women, some dying of the multiple assaults against them by their 'Christian' neighbours.

Think Mr Beck!

Are all Muslims terrorists or child murderers? Of course not, and only a fool could think otherwise.

I have Muslims in my family and there are no better, kinder, sympathetic, loving, peaceable, generous people anyone could meet.

It is not a person's religion that causes them to do evil things, rather it is an unfortunate constitutional inclination to fear and rage imposed on the immature hyper-emotional, alienated, angry, and confused people that can not escape the feelings of powerlessness of children that are no approved.

Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Genghis Khan, Attila the Hun, Charles Manson, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, the idiot birthers, and rabid republican racists share the same phrenetic genetic disposition to be in control of everything, including you.

They tell enormous lies, blame others, but never admit they made or make mistakes. It's all your fault but never theirs.

Unfortunately there are some that cannot control their emotions when they discuss something with someone that dares to disagree with them.

There is not much anyone can do, because psychopaths are more psychotic and deluded than those normally held to be insane.

They are not amenable to treatment, or reason, or fact-based argument, because they find that a big LOUD voice coupled with mindless threats and demeaning references to those not suffering from the same 'folie du jour' as themselves.

The US Constitution does not encourage madness, although its legal restraints do make the mad madder, and irrational more irrational, and that is why Beck and his ilk get others to do their dirty work.

If Anonymous thinks that Beck's tirades are 'non-political' then perhaps he hasn't listened closely enough to the fascist, anti-democracy bias that Beck [and Limbaugh, etc] spew into a country that is striving to become decent.

Treaty of Tripoli, I love it. You have this one treaty which was created to appease (which is never a good idea) muslims. And the treaty didn't work. But I can back up with BOOKS proving a large portion of the constitution was based off the principles of the Bible. And quote after quote from the founding fathers that will strengthen my arguement. And you? you have one treaty. you go. As for seperation of church it simply mean that a church cant run the country. IT DOES NOT mean god can't be part of government.
Angry Athiest you chose your name wisely. You are angry, is something missing in your life?

Ok, anonymous, I'll do as you say and "study my history", particularly regarding those founding fathers who you say intended the U.S. to be a christian nation.
Hmm... Thomas Jefferson... celebrated founding father... let's see what he has to say. Hey, look at this, anonymous, here's what Thomas Jefferson says:

"But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."

-Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782

Huh... well, gee, anonymous - it looks to me like you, well, no offense here anonymous, but it looks like you just have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I'll be darned. Maybe... no offense there, anonymous, I'm sure you have many endearing traits and so forth - but maybe you shouldn't talk to much about things that you have absolutely no idea about. Maybe it'll seem like you just make things up according to your agenda, and then state them in a pompous aggressive manor so that people think they must be true. On second thought, maybe that method will get you a spot on TV and radio and other people like you will listen and accept the made-up stuff as true.
