YES, THE RIGHT WING NUTS RAISE MONEY FOR THEIR CRAZY CANDIDATES ONLINE

>

While the Republican Party abandons incumbent after incumbent, even party leaders like Santorum, a conglomeration of extreme right wing bloggers have banded together to try to raise "rightroots" money for a shabby and pathetic band of misanthropes and neo-fascists. The ABCPAC, endorsed by extremists from RedState, Right Wing News, Ankle Biting Pundits, Townhall, Wizbang, Captain's Quarters, Blue Crab Blvd, etc-- as well as by a handful of kooky politicos like Bill Frist, John McCain and Jack Kingston, has managed to raise almost a quarter million dollars so far. They support a laughable assortment of fruits and nuts, many of whom mainstream Republicans are avoiding. Their most successful candidate, Diane Irey, a maniac who is rumored to have broken the 30% barrier, is challenging Jack Murtha (PA-12) and she's collected $22,563.

Except for his incredibly prescient position on Iraq-- and for the powerful and steadfast defense of that position from the predictable onslaught from the far right-- I have never been a big John Murtha fan. As a matter of fact, his voting record is an embarrassment... for a Democrat. Yes, we love the strength of character and the integrity when it comes to the most important issue of the day but, other than that... DMI rates him a C and he often votes with Republicans on crucial and fundamental issues. But, compared to Irey, he actually seems like a moderate instead of a conservative.

The other loons they're wasting their money on are a shrill, whacky Global Warming denier running against Patty Wetterling in Minnesota, and... wow... I just took a closer look at the list. Every name on it but one, free-spending neo-fascist Mike Whalen in Iowa, has sinking, losing poll numbers. A real list of sad sacks: Ray Meier (NY-24), Chuck Blasdel (OH-06), Max Burns (GA-12), John Gard (WI-08), Jeff Lamberti (IA-03), David McSweeney (IL-08), Ralph Norman (SC-05), Rick O'Donnell (CO-07), Peter Roskam (IL-06), Van Taylor (TX-17), Scott Tipton (CO-03), Chris Wakim (WV-01), Mike Whalen (IA-01), Andrea Loon Zinga (IL-17) and a pacel of Senate also-rans: Bouchard from Michigan, Kean from New Jersey, Kennedy from Minnesota, McGavick from Washington, and Steele from Maryland. Is that pathetic or what?

Diane Irey is a real fruitcake alright. Just before you hit the shower tonight, go visit her website for a sample of wingnut lunacy at its ultimate. It speaks volumes about the mentality of her 30% supporters which, in any marginally sane society, should be several orders of magnitude lower.

In fairness to Pennsylvania's version of Katherine Harris, Diane and Mr. Diane are all about shaking low hanging fruit loose from the money tree. Nothing new here; just another couple of unprincipled bunko artists working Pittsburgh's suburban asteroid belt from the flag patriot angle.

Ahoy, Condi. Do the dirty beast! Citizen.
