SEND IN THE CLOWNS

Oh goodie! This is gonna be fun. I feel like a kid in middle school, Jr. High if you are as old as I am sitting in the cafeteria when someone yells, "Food Fight!!!"

The Party against gay marriage and against gays in the military is about to go at it, and from within. Bush will assure his faithful that it is all the insurgency and not a civil war. The big tent is about to become the Circus Tent. Cue the Baby Elephant Walk.

So folks, grab a seat and pass the peanuts. And, Dems? I say you guys stand by and add moral support by supplying lists of hypocritical gay Republicans. Afterall, you do not want to be accused of knowing something you were duty bound to reveal to protect the nonplussed religionists across the US. "Oh, my Miss Becky, I do believe I have the vapors."

[In some respects I jest. I stand with Rachel Maddow who says that only those hurting gays and lesbians should be outed as part of a political operation. Otherwise it is unethical, in my opinion. And, I teach ethics.]

But, to watch the Republican Party act stupid and petty all on its own and in plain sight of everyone is a grand experience. To watch the light slowly coming on for the religious right makes me giddy.
[Note to self: watching a good fight is better when you don’t like either party involved, GOP or right wing religious nuts.]

So to recap. The GOP has dressed itself up in these family values clothes in order to win and hold a voting block of far right evangelical Christians. They are against gay marriage and abortion. They are willing to pack the courts to please this prudish mistress, the radical church, but of late the Republicans’ slip is showing. There really are it seems, an awful lot of gay folks in this Republican Party. And, no one yet has brought an end to abortion, even though daily they work to trim back the rights of women to choose.


All these years of out and out lies that has taken this nation to war, a war that is killing and wounding our young people at a horrifying rate still rages on with plenty of Christian apologists. The report that 655,000 Iraqis have given their lives hardly makes them bat an eyelash. The lies about Medicare, the Jack Abramaoff/Rove/Bush/Cronie purchasing of the congress slips right by them, doesn’t even appear on their radar. All of that is just fine with them.

But, gay people allowed to wear suits and make laws... by gawd, not on their watch.

This is tragi-comedy at its best. Not only are they still upset about the wrong thing, but now they find out no one cares or gives them credibility over anything, except as a voting block. They were not loved for their true selves. But, even worse, they are upset about the wrong thing even in this issue within an issue. Good thing George read hisself some Shakespeares this summer cause he is going to need that background to follow all these twists.

What occurred here is predatory, it is pedophilia and the exploitation of children. That it has sparked the purge of gays only leaves the GOP with a few options. They can come out strongly in favor of gay rights and set the record straight on the public misperception of gays being pedophiles, or they can pretend that there are no gay Republicans in high places. Or, they can admit to the Religious Right... "Eh, we’re just not that in to you."


No matter which option they choose, I doubt it will please James Dobson or Jerry Falwell. The cat is out of the bag now. And, the Tele-Christs will have some face to save. The followers will be demanding answers. The religious it seems have been... well, believing a lie. Oh no! Surely not! [laugh break*****okay back to seriousness****nah, sorry just a minute, I gotta take a little more time to giggle through this one***ok]

Once these poor believers get over the shock of being betrayed by their political hero god, they can perhaps be reasoned with. They might begin to see the value of proper healthcare, the importance of a living wage, even better, they might begin to appreciate the sensibility and of a responsible budget. They might even welcome the chance to let their brains cool from having to justify the insanity they have been witnessing the last 6 years.

Maybe finally they can all accept the truth. George Bush cares about George Bush. He is not protecting America. He is not protecting "family values." He is lining his own pockets and protecting his own ass at the expense of America and Americans.

But, in the meantime, I intend to sit back and watch W and his gang screw someone else for a change I relish sitting back and watch them offend the last group of the general population who supported them.

I take comfort in solving the mystery once and for all. That smirk of his? It’s not a quirk.
He really is laughing inside. To him, it really is funny. He even can’t convince himself to believe a word he is saying.

That being said, how far a leap is it from some credibility as president, and being a laughing stock and a complete and utter failure? Not far. Send in the clowns.
