ANOTHER CHAPTER IN JOHN DOOLITTLE'S DESPICABLE HISTORY OF CRIMINALITY AND COVER-UP

Most Americans couldn't locate the Northern Marianas Islands on a map if their lives depended on it-- nor could they tell you anything about the island chain. However, in the northern California district between the Sacramento suburbs and the Oregon border, more and more people are knowing an uncomfortably lot about the Northern Marianas. That's because the Republican incumbent in CA-04, John Doolittle, an incredibly corrupt and thoroughly immoral bribetaker has been all caught up in a whole slew of Abramoff-related scandals, one particularly horrible one centered in the Commonwealth-- a nice way to say "colony"-- of the Northern Mariana Islands. And the swirling controversy around the scandal is being covered by the Sacramento Bee, the district's most read newspaper.

Now that the FBI is actively investigating Doolittle's role in the pervasive Culture of Corruption in DC, his activities in the Northern Marianas scandals are coming out. Last week, the Bee reported that the forced prostitution, slave labor, forced abortions and generally nightmarish conditions put together by villains like Tom DeLay, Bob Ney, Don Young and John Doolittle as a model working situation for a Republican Party-dominated society has become a campaign issue in CA-04.

A month before Rep. John Doolittle took actions that would help disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff win back a contract to represent the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in blocking immigration and labor reforms, he heard sworn witnesses describing some of the sordid abuses the legislation was intended to halt.

At the Sept. 16, 1999, hearing before the House Resources Committee, witnesses told of deplorable working conditions, trafficking in women and forced prostitution.

Now, seven years later, Doolittle's opposition to the reforms in the U.S. territory has become a dominant issue in his campaign for a ninth term in Congress.

Doolittle claims he has never "knowingly supported" the sex trade and the other atrocities committed against defenseless women as a result of the policies he and the rest of the Abramoff Republicans shoved through Congress. The record shows that he clearly did know-- and was paid very, very well to hide the facts from the public.

Residents of CA-04 have to decide if they will retire their longtime congressman at the polls in 2 weeks or watch as their elected representative is indicted, tried and jailed. After denying that he is even under investigation, Doolittle has been shown by the Bee to have paid criminal attorneys over $50,000 in the last 3 months to deal with the FBI investigation of his role in the Abramoff scandals.

There is a pattern of contemptible and deceitful behavior woven throughout Doolittle's career as a self-serving criminal congressman. Interestingly, Doolittle's recent attacks on Charlie Brown for his ACLU connections, and Doolittle's leadership position in a Congressional leadership team that covered up the Mark Foley sexual predator scandal are underscored by a report that has come to DWT from a reliable source about an earlier example of Doolittle aiding in a cover-up of a serious child molester. In 1987, then-State Senator John Doolittle was the primary character witness in the criminal case against dentist David Phipps, charged with molesting six young female patients in the dentist chair while they were under sedation. Doolittle spent considerable time under cross examination testifying to the close relationship and good character of Phipps.

Despite the evidence and credible testimony of six young women, Doolittle's stature helped Phipps gain leniency from the court. Phipps plead guilty to simply battery rather than sexual battery and avoided jail time, receiving probation for three years. Phipps was also suspended from the California Dental Board for five months. With Doolittle's help, Phipps, a fellow Mormon, was allowed to re-enter the Dental profession in 1988. His soft sentence and early return to the profession allowed him to once again molest young female patients. Phipps was again formally accused of molesting patients in 1994. This time, the Dental Board ended Phipps dental career by revoking his license to practice.

Doolittle's career of covering up sexual predation, however, was just beginning and his career of molesting the interests of the residents of northern California was ramping up and accelerating and he discovered there was no accountability and no one inside a power-mad GOP to say no-- to anything!
