OMG!!! BOEHNER (YES, PRONOUNCED BONER) WON. BOEHNER IS THE NEW MAJORITY LEADER OF THE HOUSE. AND HE'S ALMOST AS CORRUPT AS DELAY

>

It was a huge shock that the DWT-favored candidate for Republican House leader, John Boehner, of the over-the-top corrupt GOP machine in Ohio was elected instead of the equally corrupt DeLay choice, an extremist whacko from Missouri named Roy Blunt who served as temporary leader while DeLay was fighting against a myriad of indictments and ethics and criminal charges. The surprising vote was 122-109, surprising because Blunt had announced he had all the votes he needed to win committed and that it was in the bag. It came on the second ballot, after congressmen who had committed to the vicious Blunt felt they could safely abandon his faltering candidacy (and after the furthest right of the contenders, John "I'm not as corrupt as the other two are" Shadegg, withdrew).

Embittered and fighting back the tears over the loss that would have brought him millions of dollars in opportunities for graft and corruption like his mentor DeLay, Blunt could only say, "Believe me, the world goes on." (Who knew he had such a zen-buddhist outlook on life?)

Boehner, who is best know for being a bag man for Big Tobacco and who was once caught red-handed passing out bribe money from the tobacco lobby on the floor of the House, is being heralded by Republican propagandists and too-dumb-to-walk-and-chew-gum-at-the-same-type MSM types as a "fresh face". He and DeLay hated each other but he is hardly a reformer by any stretch of the imagination. He has come to symbolize all that is wrong with Bush's "No Child Left Behind" Bill, which he shepherded through Congress, and he has, of course, assured everyone in the Republican caucus that it will be business as usual when it comes to the GOP's wheeling and dealing with his lobbyist pals on K Street.

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: THE BONER MAN'S IN HOT WATER FOR CORRUPT PRACTICES AGAIN (ALREADY)

According to today's WASHINGTON POST the new DeLay lives in an apartment owned by... a veteran lobbyist, his long-time chum John Milne, "whose clients have direct stakes in legislation Boehner has co-written and that he has overseen as chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee."

John over at CROOK & LIARS has a great video clip of a funny little put-on between CNN curmudgeon Jack Cafferty and one of the White House propaganda operatives working at the network:

Jack Cafferty: "These guys are either arrogant or stupid and neither of those is a good thing if you're going to be the House majority leader--am I missing something here? Where's the reform part? I wonder how long this guy is going to last."

Wolf Blitzer: "You did hear Ed Henry say that it is a basement apartment which is not necessarily all that desirable..."

Cafferty: "Yea...and pigs fly upside down and the moon is made of green cheese and there's no quid pro quo from a lobbyist who is also your landlord. Do I look like I just fell out of the back of a vegetable truck to you?

Wolf: No, you look like Jack Cafferty...

I found that both Boehner and Blunt paid people to vote for them. Looks like Boehner paid better.
