IS GENERAL ODOM A TRAITOR TOO? ANOTHER PATRIOT AND NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT CALLS BUSH'S DISASTROUS IRAQ "STRATEGY" INTO QUESTION

Despite the way partisan Republican propaganda-- whether from chickenhawks like Cheney and Limbaugh or from practiced professional slime merchants like Coulter and O'Reilly or just from a run-of-the-mill nasty psychotic like Mean Jean Schmidt-- attempts to slime anyone who opposes the Bush Regime's catastrophic policies, more and more patriotic and fearless Americans are bravely coming forward to tell the public that the emperor indeed has no clothes. Even in the brutal aftermath of Republican and Fox "News" attempts to debase decorated American combat hero John Murtha, Reagan National Security Advisor General William Odom stepped forward to write a piece explaining how the biggest obstacle to Bush's stated goals in Iraq (democracy and Middle East stability) is the American military occupation of Iraq. Just click on the link and read why a conservative Republican thinks Bush, Cheney and the neo-Con imbeciles they've surrounded themselves with have wrecked American foreign policy.

In his article from August of this year, "What's wrong with cutting and running?" the General says this .....

" The wisest course for journalists might be to begin sustained investigations of why leading Democrats have failed so miserably to challenge the US occupation of Iraq. The first step, of course, is to establish as conventional wisdom the fact that the war was never in the US interest and has not become so. It is such an obvious case to make that I find it difficult to believe many pundits and political leaders have not already made it repeatedly."

The whole article is the best argument for pulling out that has been made to date.
I wonder when we'll get to the deeper and darker side of Saudi Arabian influence.

While I admire Odom's current stance, I find it frustrating to read about another conservative military man now advocating for pulling out of Iraq and how this war may be the most disastrous in American history. Where was he a few years ago during criticial decision making time? I don't think Odom ever read or watched MacNamara's "Fog of War," which describes how to assess/determine whether you should start a war BEFORE you do it. If he had, maybe he would've spoken up earlier, BEFORE Bush went into Iraq. I don't see Odom on record for questioning this war when it started. Of course, MacNamara's position is reasoned and well thought out only in hindsight: he learned from his experiences running the Vietnam War at Johnson's behest. Is it too much to expect our leaders to think carefully and analyze the situation BEFORE they proceed? Or will we always be stuck with hindsight? I have a partial solution: Congress should pass a law requiring all Presidents to watch "Fog of War" before they start one.
Unfortunately, Bush does not give one poop about reason or reality - his Presidency has always been about his being a megalomaniac and fulfilling his fantasies. He has never cared about or had any respect for knowledge or reason. His whole life has been a fantasy. The man in mentally unfit to lead a major nation. How did he ever get elected when he was an alcohlic for twenty years?

You must look the history of those you quote before assigning too much meaning to their words.
General Odom's history is quite clear.
