LOOKS LIKE SCHWARZENEGGER WON'T HAVE HIS CAKE IN CALIFORNIA-- AND WON'T BE EATING IT IN OHIO (TOO)

>

The latest polls show that Californians' animus towards their absentee special-interests governor is sinking the 6 right-wing propositions the GOP is trying to get voters to endorse next Tuesday (in a "special election" specially designed to get as few people as possible to participate). All look likely to fail as Schwarzenegger's approval ratings have gone into such free-fall that he is now getting lower scores than Bush (especially in L.A.-- although Bush is more hated in the Bay Area). According to CNN's "The Grind," Schwarzenegger has also butted into the Reform Ohio Now (RON) ballot initiatives in Ohio (where he has some kind of a body building company and was once considered sort of a semi-local hero). This is giving Ohio's already corruption-plagued, uber-beleaguered GOP a major conniption-- especially the half dozen Republican congressloons who will likely lose their seats if the Ohio reform bill endorsed by Schwarzenegger passes. Ohio's State Issue 4 is similar to Schwarzenegger's Prop 77 BUT the California measure would help Republicans. In Ohio, the measure would help Democrats.

CNN reports that "one Ohio Congressman, speaking on the condition of anonymity [probably Ralph "Little Ralphie" Regula, a corrupt right-winger who in all likelihood will be searching for honest employment after the 2006 elections], said he understands that Schwarzenegger is 'trying to save his own political hide, but he is doing it at our expense.' Ohio Republicans are so angry about the Terminator 'meddling' in their state that the issue has been discussed at private meetings in the Capitol and prompted them to enlist the aid of House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL). Hastert confirmed to the Grind that he had spoken to Schwarzenegger 'a couple of times' about the issue, before the California governor officially endorsed the Ohio proposal on Oct. 19."

Regula soured and bitter, says that Schwarzenegger's endorsement won't have any effect anyway because he is "governor of California, not Ohio." But how sweet would it be for Schwarzenegger's attempt to gerrymander loses in California and his help pushes the RON measures over the thresh-hold!!
