DESPITE THE STENY HOYERS AND MAX BAUCUSES, THE DEMOCRATS OFFER US THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE TO TERRIBLE GOVERNANCE

>

Maybe you saw us come down hard on egregious corporate whores Steny Hoyer and Max Baucus today-- two Inside-the-Beltway hacks and corporate shills every real Democrat in America should be embarrassed to share a party affiliation with. The thought of working so hard in the last cycle to raise money for Democratic challengers so we could win a majority and then to see slimy Democratic Insiders like Rahm Emanuel and Steny Hoyer take over the House-- and prevent anyone from seriously challenging Bush's Iraq policies-- and a rotten turd like Baucus run the Senate Finance Committee as though he were a Republican in name (instead of just a Republican in deed) infuriates me.

But then I'm on the phone with newly elected Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy's office talking about a new bill he and 3 other freshmen-- Joe Sestak, Steve Cohen and Carol Shea-Porter-- have introduced: H.R. 960. Blue America raised over $21,000 for Sestak and Murphy last year and our first new addition for 2007-8 election cycle was Steve Cohen. And I'm in the middle of trying to set up a live session with Carol Shea-Porter.

Joe Sestak and Patrick Murphy were 2 Fighting Dems elected last year. They ran on a platform of bringing some sense to this country's Iraq policies-- and to really support of military men and women (not the Bush way). And they've been doing exactly that. Their bill, Enhancing America's Security through Redeployment from Iraq Act-- which is sponsored in the Senate by Obama-- is one of the most reasonable proposals to end Bush's war. It will be difficult for all but the most out-of-the-closet reactionaries and warmongers-- people like Lieberman, McConnell and McCain-- to oppose it. The summary: "To enhance the national security interests of the United States both at home and abroad by setting a deliberate timetable for the redeployment of United States Armed Forces from Iraq by December 31, 2007, and for other purposes."

That's the reason I'll just get over the Emanuels and Hoyers and Baucuses and the Hillary Clintons and Joe Bidens and concentrate on men and women like these 4 congressmen. Come by Firedoglake Saturday at 2 PM (EST) and meet Patrick Murphy live.

Howie,

And I will see him in person on Sat at our local Dems breakfast.
I'll drop you a note after if you want me too

I'm in the next Congressional District and my DFA group raised $$$ for him and Sestak: when no one ever even heard of them.I don' t know if you remember but Joe wasn't the original Dem running for this seat .It was Paul Scoles..He was a local Surgeon. Who unfortunatly didn't tell anyone that he was HIV positive and still operating...He was asked to bow out and we found Joe..
Far as Rahm goes
If they had listened to Rahm Emmanual they would have lost: just like Lois Murphy. And from what I have heard here on the ground, Mike Fitzpatrick is gonna run against Patrick again...Dont think Weldon is gonna run though..
