I Don't Know If Troy King Is Still A Closet Case, But He's Running For Alabama Attorney General Again

Republican Troy King is running for Alabama Attorney General again. Why would any DWT, outside of Alabamians, care? There's an interesting story there-- although none of the media outlets covering his announcement has mentioned it. King was appointed Alabama Attorney General by Bob Riley in 2004 when Bill Pryor resigned to accept a a federal judgeship and was then elected to the post in 2006. In 2008 King's wife caught him in bed with a young man and kicked him out of the house. Two years later Luther Strange primaried him and beat him convincingly, 284,613 (60.13%) to 188,724 (39.87%).

King officially qualified for the race Thursday in Elba. It has been 7 years, since he has served the people of Alabama and now he is ready for a second chance.

“I’m back because I feel the call and I believe that is what public service is-- a call to serve the people of Alabama-to help take our state back,” says King.

But why now? King says there are a number of reasons why he feels led to get back into office.

“I didn’t want to run for office. I have waited and hoped and thought and believed that somebody was going to step up and begin to restore integrity to public service and begin to return government back to the people that it belongs to,” says King.

From 2004 to 2011, King served as the state’s attorney general. Luther Strange defeated him in the 2010 Republican primary.

“I believe I come back into government with a much fuller and complete view of how the things I knew are going to effect the people of Alabama and that is a very important perspective to have. You don’t know the things you don’t know and I know a lot more now than I did seven years ago,” says King.

King says, there has been a cloud of corruption over Alabama.

“I’ve waited seven years hoping, waiting for somebody else to step forward and fix the problems in our state,” says King.

King will face Attorney General Steve Marshall, Alice Martin and Chess Bedsole on the Republican ballot of the race.

King was about as homophobic as any garden variety Alabama Baptist politician-- and that's very homophobic. When he was Attorney General, he wasted a lot of time prosecuting people who sold dildos. But King's obsession with homosexuality can be traced back to his college days when he was writing disturbingly hysterical anti-gay articles for the college paper, the Crimson White. He seemed more than a little obsessed even back then. 

King, a frontrunner for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2010, has called homosexuality "the downfall of society."

He wrote those words in an editorial at his alma mater-- the University of Alabama where he was a law student from 1990-1993 and a frequent contributor to the campus newspaper, the Crimson White.

He also decried the existence of a gay group-- the Gay/Straight Alliance-- on campus.

"The existence of the Gay-Lesbian Alliance on this campus is an affront to the state of Alabama, its citizenry, this university and its students," King wrote.

A photograph of two men kissing that appeared on the front page of the CW in March, 1992, brought this response from King:

"The time has come for the majority to rise from its figurative slumber. The picture on the front page of Monday's issue of The Crimson White looked like the front page of Sodom and Gomorrah News the day before those cities were destroyed. I and a majority of the students were appalled not that these students would pose for this picture, for we have seen that the homosexuals in America will do anything to grab a headline but rather I am furious that this paper would sacrifice its journalistic integrity for a tabloid-esque reporting! It is indeed sad that America has fallen to the point where she will condone any type of deviant, immoral activity in which a group desires to participate. However, perhaps even more compelling evidence of the perversion of America is evidenced not only by the fact that this story was published in the newspaper but rather that it was graphically depicted on the front page."

During his third year of law school (1993), he addressed the subject of AIDS.

"Currently, AIDS is the most behavior-oriented disease known to mankind," King wrote. "If this nation's current purveyors of perversion would refrain from committing sodomy they would unquestioningly be spared the ravages of the disease."

After she caught him in the act, his wife kicked him out of the house and she said she was divorcing him. He was then the focus of a lot of negativity because of his hypocritical, smug nature and because... well, Alabama is like that.

The rumor at the time was that Troy's mystery man was his old college roommate who he gave a position to when he took over the AG office in 2004. Supposedly when Troy was out of town so was lover boy.

The story then became that the mystery man was a young man who had just graduated from Troy University and was the Homecoming King (no pun intended) (God that gets confusing...Troy King with the homecoming king who graduated from Troy) and that was who the wife walked in on. Then a few weeks later Troy and his boy toy from Troy were spotted at the YMCA (not kidding) engaging in....ummmm....inappropriate activities. Yeah...at the YMCA...made famous by the Village People. Apparently Troy has no inkling of what it means to be 'discreet'.

A song was written, based on Roger Miller's classic "King of the Road"-- but a hit in Alabama in 1997 by another closet case, Randy Travis-- and recorded real fast:



McCain, then a presidential candidate, didn't just fire King as chairman of his Alabama Leadership team, he disappeared all mentions of King from his website. King never responded to questions about his sexuality but his political patron, Gov. Riley, turned on him in 2010 and backed Luther Strange. I sure hope the Human Rights Campaign endorses him in his current race.

And The Purge Is On-- Fascist GOP Thought Police Will Not Tolerate Pro-Gay Members

I guess if Troy King is still in the closet, he can be on the Alabama GOP steering committee. BINGO!

You may have read last week that top RNC leaders voted unanimously on a resolution stating that the national party "will not partner with the networks nor sanction any primary debates" if they they plan to sponsor and broadcast a documentary on Hillary Clinton. They're talking about excluding CNN and NBC (including Spanish labguage networks CNN en Espanol and Telemundo) from the Republican debate season, meaning Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes fans will have to look elsewhere in order to hear moderator Mark Levin trying to sabotage Chris Christie's presidential campaign. “It seems that Republicans don’t get it,” DNC press secretary Michael Czin said in a statement. “If they truly want to connect with a broader audience, they need an agenda that fights for the middle class and is inclusive. Sadly, it appears that with today’s vote, their approach is to actually speak to even fewer voters.”

And fewer voters many Republicans hope their party ignores goes beyond progressives and Hispanics. The GOP in Alabama has no interest in hearing from gay Republicans-- or evengay-friendly Republicans. And the state party's bylaws may soon reflect their hysterical homophobia.

A proposed amendment to the state's Republican Party bylaws would allow the removal of the Alabama College Republicans chairwoman, who spoke out in favor of same-sex marriage in June, from the party's steering committee.

Following the Supreme Court ruling against the Defense of Marriage Act in June, chairwoman and University of Alabama student Stephanie Petelos spoke to AL.com about the generational divide between party leadership and young conservatives on the issue.

She told Buzzfeed the comments reportedly infuriated party leaders, who began attempting then to remove her from the steering committee.

They struck a deal in which Petelos would not speak to the press on the issue, and committee members would stop trying to oust her.

The proposed amendment, sponsored by Don Wallace of Tuscaloosa and Bonnie Sachs of Double Springs, states no one can continue to serve on the steering committee if they publicly advocate a position contrary to the platform adopted at the Republican National Convention.

To be reinstated, the individual must publicly rescind his or her comments, the amendment states. Today, Petelos would only offer a brief statement to AL.com regarding the issue.

"The only thing I have to say is that I had an agreement with GOP leaders to not discuss the gay marriage issue further, and they agreed to drop the issue and stop trying to remove my position," Petelos said. "So I am going to continue upholding my agreement with them."

In Petelos's June comments to AL.com, she said she was frustrated with the harsh and religious rhetoric coming from GOP party leaders.

She also said even more young conservatives would come out in favor of same-sex marriage if not for fear of retribution from party leaders.

"I think a lot of people would be actively for it if they didn't live in fear of backlash from party leaders," she said. "We don't want to go against the party, we love the party. We're just passionate about a whole list of other issues, that's why we're involved."

Petelos also praised the SCOTUS decision and demonstrated support for marriage equality on social media sites.

Though Petelos would not comment further on the situation, other Alabama conservatives have come to her defense.

Chris Brown, a former chair of the Young Republican Federation of Alabama who served on the steering committee for four years, said he doesn't necessarily agree with Petelos's views but finds the response to her comments "disturbing."

"I'm tired of the bullying they're doing to a 23-year-old girl," Brown said. "They're trying to intimidate and scare her."

Brown said he believes some current party leadership is comfortable with the current state of the party, and isn't receptive to young conservative groups like College Republicans and the Young Republican Federation of Alabama's attempts to diversify the party.

"We're trying to reach out and bring in more young people, women, minorities through our affiliated organizations, but our state party doesn't seem to be accepting in the same way," Brown said. "As our party grows, we need to be respectful of other people's opinions."

Today's Washington Post reports that many Catholics are outraged that McCain has hired on, as "a faith advisor," Deal Hudson, a far right psycho who even the Bush-Cheney camp booted out of their 2004 campaign after he was caught preying on college students.

Hudson, a member of the Catholics for McCain National Steering Committee, has always used his position as a teacher to push his bizarre and extremist partisan agenda, was forced to resign as a Fordham University instructor and as publisher of the far right GOP-Catholic propaganda sheet Crisis after he got an 18 year old student drunk and then raped her. (He apologized and says he feels "guilt and regret.") Apparently that's good enough for McCain whose campaign has no intention of firing Hudson unless he is shown to also be raping boys.

Fooling around with boys on the McCain campaign is a definite no-no, as his Alabama campaign chair, Attorney General Troy Hudson, just found out. Every mention of Hudson has been "disappeared" from the McCain website after he was caught by his wife Paige, in bed with a younger man-- believe it or not, the homecoming king of Troy College. Troy King no longer exists-- in fact, never existed-- as far as the McCain campaign is concerned. Deal Hudson... hey, you heard the kinds of jokes McCain tells about women getting raped.

Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, ‘Where is that marvelous ape?

You think Carly Fiorina was laughing when she heard that one?

Another Twist In The Troy King Story Harkens Back To Gay Republican Triple Homicide And Call Boy Ring

A friend of mine just tied together, tenuously so far, two very disturbing stories. One is about a triple murder of three gay men in Orlando-- or two gay men and a male prostitute-- and the other about the unfolding saga of how Paige King, the wife of Alabama's homophobic Attorney General, Troy King, caught him in bed with a young man (a homecoming king from Troy College, no less!).

It turns out that one of the murder victims, Ralph Gonzalez, a closet queen like King, and the former executive director of the Georgia Republican Party, was also Rep. Tom Feeney's (R-FL) campaign manager and the president of the Republican consulting operation, Stratagem Group, a firm King employed.

King has been refusing to resign, although Alabama Republicans want him out before the general election. Where's a twerpy little loser like King going to find such a good job? After all, he's the second highest paid Attorney General in America (second only to Jerry Brown in California). Right now he is studiously avoiding reporters, as is his patron, Governor Bob Riley, who appointed him Attorney General. Each refuses to comment on the case. Now all we need to find out is if there was any relationship between Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) and King.

Tucson Republican congressman Jim Kolbe wasn't exactly open about his homosexuality, but he wasn't all that uptight about it either. Nor did he come off as a morbid and deranged self-loathing closet queen, like most heavily closeted Republicans in Washington do. When the Advocate told him they were going to spill the beans, soon after a homophobic vote on DoMA, he simply called a press conference and announced that he's gay and went back to work. He was re-elected 4 more times, although once it became clear he was covering up for serial gay rapist Mark Foley and also taking young congressional pages on "camping trips," he bade his congressional career a find adieu and decamped for Tucson where he is best known for chasing young Hispanic boys.

He was never a Larry Craig, Lindsey Graham or Mark Foley, putting excessive energy into pretending to be straight. And he was always a lot less uptight than David Dreier but there is always an air of tragedy around these old right-wing politicians who try denying what everyone knows. Many-- like Grahams and Craig's more than most-- go out of their way to "prove" they're straightness by obsessive homophobia. Sometimes it just seems like a major Republican Party affliction.

Yesterday Wonkette broke the story of another vicious Republican sociopath. Actually the story has been circulating in Montgomery for weeks but you know how polite everyone is down there. Troy King, unless he's already resigned, is the Attorney General of the great state of Alabama. The 40 year old Baptist, with 3 children, was caught in bed with a young man by his wife-- in their marital bed. He hasn't made much of a name for himself in Alabama politics-- except as a crazed homophobe obsessed with sex and vice. Now Republicans are worried that the mushrooming scandal will spill over into 3 hot congressional races where GOP candidates could suffer from what seems like a Republican hypocrisy epidemic.

During the 2005 legislative session, King made headlines by wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet of the kind used by parolees and others under judicial monitoring. King promised to wear the bracelet until the legislature passed tougher monitoring laws for parolees and convicted sex offenders, and removed it when such laws were passed... King was also known for his fight against the sex toy shops in Montgomery.

King has made opposition to gambling a central theme of his administration. In 2006, King asked the United States Department of the Interior to deny an application by the Poarch Creek Band of Indians to expand their gaming operations in Alabama. King later filed a lawsuit against the Department to keep it from pressuring Alabama to permit video gaming on Alabama reservations.

Maybe Alabama should think about replacing South Carolina as a gay tourist destination now that South Carolina has nixed an ad saying "South Carolina is so gay," which may have been embarrassing Lindsey Graham. And meanwhile, today Bush lost a case in the Federal District Court of Appeals that may lead to the public finding out who in the White House was hiring Republican male prostitute Guckert/Gannon for sleep overs in that building.

UPDATE... AND BY THE WAY, NOT EVERY REPUBLICAN PERVERT IS GAY

Last May I told you about a Republican maniac, Joe McDade, who used to represent part of Monroe County, PA, where I lived. More recently, the extremely corrupt-- like in defense contractor corrupt-- McDade, a lobbyist since retiring from Congress in disgrace in 1999, was arrested for chasing women around a Florida resort and masturbating in public. Yesterday a Florida judge declared him incomptent to stand trial. I wonder if that's how the Bush crew will get off if their day ever comes.


SATURDAY UPDATE: McCAIN MAKES TROY KING AN UNPERSON

King still hasn't resigned or blamed his gay lifetstyle on alcohol or Bill Clinton but McCain apparently knows something is coming down. 1984-style he deleted the page on his website dedicated to the one he used to love, the chairman of John McCain’s Alabama Leadership Team. There is no announcement if King is still allowed to be chairman of the Alabama McCain team or if either gross hypocrisy and what he does in the privacy of his own bedroom disqualifies him.
