Right Wing Terrorist In The Washington State Legislature Explains How To Divide Up The Booty They Steal After They Kill The Jews And Gays And Liberals

>

2018 Republicans-- Matt Shea and Cathy McMorris Rodgers

Between Spokane and the Idaho border you'll find the 4th legislative district. It's very rural. There's got to be a town there but I can't find one, although there was a post office of sorts in a town called Drygoon and in 1902 they changed the name from Drygoon to Colbert in honor of a postmaster named Harry Colbert. But I'm not certain if it's inside the district or not. Like I said, it's very rural. The state Rep from the 4th, Matthew Shea, is 44. He's beyond conservative. When his wife Lisa divorced him, she applied for an application of protection because he considered her a possession, not a possession like a lamp but a possession like the way it was in the Old Testament. Her court papers say he was very abusive, physically and emotionally and that he "insisted she walk on his left side because his sword, if he had one, would be on his right side." Refusing to get a job, he hosted a hate talk radio show on Patriot Radio twice a week. In 2008 he was elected to the state legislature, where he defines the far outer fringes of a Republican Party, whose uneducated and drugged-up base is consumed by insane conspiracy theories.

Why should Matt Shea matter to anyone out side of eastern Washington? Two reasons. On Wednesday, Shea admitted he had distributed a manifesto that strongly smacks of right-wing domestic terrorism, The Biblical Basis for War, and certainly makes it clear that Shea has been promoting violence against people who don't adhere to his extremist-- many would say psychotic-- ideology.

The Spokane County Sheriff, Ozzie Knezovich, sent the manifesto, which was written by Shea, "straight to the FBI" and noted that it "is not a Sunday school project or an academic study. It is a 'how to' manual consistent with the ideology and operating philosophy of the Christian Identity/Aryan Nations movement and the Redoubt movement of the 1990s." Shea prophesizes he will be elected president (of the U.S.) and that his assassination will lead to a civil war. You tell me, does this crackpot manifesto of his look like a call to prepare for violence and civil war? You can't put someone in prison for this stuff-- or even in a mental institution. It's up to his constituents to remove him from office, though.

Where the Spirit of God is, there is Liberty.
Last month, writing for Rolling Stone-- and before the deranged manifesto leaked-- Leah Sottile reported that Something’s Brewing in the Deep Red West. Shea is the chair of the state Republican caucus and he's batshitcrazy, frothing at the mouth for a race war or a religious war, or a war against the media, or a war of independence... just some kind of war. Sottile reported that "in his nine years in office he has allied with some of the most high-profile conspiracy theorists and anti-government extremists in the American West: from Cliven Bundy and his sons to a neo-Confederate Idaho preacher to the head of the Oath Keepers, an extremist group that believes “the United States is collaborating with a one-world tyrannical conspiracy called the New World Order.”
“I don’t think that the extent of [Shea’s] connections are widely known,” says Rep. Marcus Riccelli, a three-term Democrat in the state legislature who represents Spokane. “It’s a real statement of the Republican Party that someone with his extreme views has risen in the ranks of leadership.”

Long before President Trump deemed the press the “enemy of the people,” Matt Shea was refusing to speak with the media and airing his concern over conspiracy theories like FEMA camps with InfoWars’ Alex Jones. Shea also organized the Spokane chapter of the anti-Muslim ACT for America, which the Southern Poverty Law Center classifies as a hate group. And for the past few summers, Shea has spoken at a secretive religious community run by a man who was a foundational figure in the Christian Identity movement, which, according to the Anti-Defamation League, believes white Europeans to be the lost tribes of Israel and considers Jews to be the offspring of Eve and Satan.

...People have been talking about hacking off the eastern part of Washington-- from the Cascades to Idaho-- since at least 1915. But recently, creating a bastion of God-fearing, gun-toting, canned-food eating whiteness where conservatives can survive the End Times has been embraced by survivalists and dubbed the American Redoubt-- an idea that’s gained enough interested parties to demand an actual corner of the real estate market. Though Shea’s Liberty idea hasn’t gained much traction in the Statehouse, it’s red meat for anti-government extremists at a time when some Americans really are viewing this area of the country as the last remaining holdout for the type of America they think can be great again... “There’s a deep divide within the Spokane County Republican Party between its mainstream wing and its more constitutionalist wing,” Clayton says. “The constitutionalist wing is heavily influenced by Christian nationalists and some white-supremacist elements… they have a particular view of the Constitution and it’s all steeped in this idea of liberty. It’s anti-statism. It’s anti-government.”
Last August, Daniel Walters painted a picture of how the seemingly "mainstream conservative," Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a key Ryan lieutenant and Trump enabler, plays footsie with these racists, Nazis and terrorists.

This year, one of the crazed fascists, Jered Bonneau, ran against McMorris Rodgers in the primary. Shea hadn't endorsed her in 2014 or 2016 and Bonneau expected fellow lunatic Shea to endorse him this year. But McMorris Rodgers wanted Shea's endorsement against Bonneau and, for some reason no one seems to know, Shea gave it to her.
It shows how, even as McMorris Rodgers has distanced herself from the alt-right, she's been aligning herself more closely with a different part of the GOP fringe-- the patriot movement-- as she gets ready to face her first truly competitive election.

Even though McMorris Rodgers is nearly certain to survive the top-two primary, her performance-- and the performance of her Democratic competitor, former state Sen. Majority Leader Lisa Brown-- could have major impacts on fundraising and voter enthusiasm. If McMorris Rodgers crushes Brown in the primary, it could hobble the Democrat for the general election. But if Bonneau-- or fellow Trump-loving conservative Dave Saulibio-- gained traction it could split the vote.

...“I reached out to Matt Shea to talk about some of the others that were in the race," McMorris Rodgers told the Spokesman-Review. “And in the course of that conversation, he let me know that he was going to be supporting me.”
Read the rest of the eye-popping story. Or don't. But, if you can, vote for or, in any way you can, support Lisa Brown, who would be a great candidate for Congress even if there were no Matt Shea or Cathy McMorris Rodgers. On Tuesday, here's another race where Nate Silver's model should be proven woefully inadequate for accurate political forecasting.

Blue America Will Match Your Giving Tuesday Money To Stand With Planned Parenthood

>

As we've been writing all weekend, the Republican candidates-- on all levels, presidential, congressional-- are running their campaigns by inciting their supporters, some of whom are, by definition, not very stable, to violence. As Eric Kingson, the Blue America-endorsed candidate running for the House in a Syracuse, NY-based district points out, "the harsh rhetoric of Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz who called Planned Parenthood 'an ongoing criminal enterprise' and Mike Huckabee who called for the U.S. Department of Justice to 'criminally prosecute Planned Parenthood' invites intolerance. It also offers aid and comfort to those willing to act outside the law of the land and the norms of human decency. The inflamatory rhetoric of Cruz, Huckabee and other anti-choice activists diminishes the dignity of all and assaults the right of every woman to make intensely personal decisions free from coercion about whether to bring a pregnancy to term. And sometimes worse..."

Lou Vince, our candidate in CA-25, running against a complete NRA shill who uses the same kind of inflammatory language about women's health clinics, Tea Party psycho Steve Knight. made a similar point:
The horrendous act of terrorism committed in Colorado against the Planned Parenthood clinic illustrates why this election is so critical. We must stand up for a woman's right to choose and her right to control her own body, a right that Republicans like Steve Knight want to take away. Secondly, we must stand up to the NRA and stop putting up with their woefully misguided lobbying efforts that ultimately contribute to so much violence. As a cop, I know a thing or two about guns and enough is enough, we need sensible gun control reforms. Unfortunately, these things will never happen with Steve Knight in Congress. It's time for him to go.
PG Sittenfeld, who is running for the Ohio U.S. Senate seat against two of the worst NRA-backers in the country, conservaDem Ted Strickland and right-wing Republican Rob Portman, has been campaigning on curbing the NRA corrosive-- and murderous-- political power. After the shooting he told us that "The devoted people who work for and support Planned Parenthood, and who are unwavering in their support for a woman's right to choose, will not be scared or intimidated by the threats of bullies and the violence a psychotics. In the U.S. Senate, I will continue to stand up for women's health as well as boldly advocate for common sense gun safety reforms to set our country on a different path."

We decided to spend out Giving Tuesday asking for contributions from our members for our pro-choice/pro-gun safety candidates and to match all contributions up to $1,000 with a check from the Blue America PAC to Planned Parenthood. If you're not a Blue America member you probably didn't see the letter Digby wrote yesterday. In reading it, keep in mind what Maryland Delegate an congressional candidate Joseline Peña-Melnyk said after the right-wing terrorist was apprehended. I think she spoke for all Americans when she said "It saddens me to see more innocent Americans dead because our nation refuses to address the flood of guns that are easily available to unstable people. Those who oppose all reasonable gun controls should be ashamed. They have trapped us in this cycle of repetitive violence."

Digby:

With Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday having become something of an orgy of over-indulgence, somebody somewhere came up with the idea that the Tuesday after Thanksgiving should usher in the benevolent side of the holiday with a call to give back. They are calling it Giving Tuesday and it seems as though it might be refreshing reset from the endless eating and shopping of the long holiday week-end.

Unfortunately, this past Thanksgiving holiday was not just marked by the usual Walmart brawls and long lines waiting for Best Buy to open. This year we had to endure an act of terrorism perpetrated on our own soil: a man gunned down 12 people, killing three, in a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs. Afterwards, he was said to have declared "no more baby parts." Those two words-- "baby parts"-- are used by Republican demagogues to describe the practice of life-saving scientific research which uses fetal tissue. It refers to some hoax videos circulated by anti-choice zealots in furtherance of their cause.

It is inflammatory incitement and it did its job this last week-end.

The GOP presidential candidates were all very slow to condemn this murderous attack. And when they did, it was in the most grudging terms possible. Carly Fiorina, the candidate who blatantly lied before 25 million people in the GOP presidential debate, describing something that never happened in lurid, graphic detail even went so far as to cast blame on the left for even bringing up the possibility that rhetoric such as theirs may have contributed to this atrocity.

All Blue America candidates are crystal clear on where they stand, both in support for Planned Parenthood and against the NRA which makes it possible for zealots to easily acquire the firearms they use to carry out their deadly missions. This statement from state Senator Jamie Raskin, candidate for Maryland's 8th Congressional District speaks for all of us:
"The nightmare in Colorado Springs brought together two lethal threats to the American people: the epidemic of gun violence made possible by lax gun laws and the NRA, and the relentless attacks by right-wing fanatics on Planned Parenthood and the right of American women to access basic reproductive health services. Let this outbreak of homegrown terror in Colorado give us the resolve we need to impose civilized gun safety laws in our country and to stop all of the appalling efforts to defund and destroy Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of reproductive health services in the U.S."
In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, Blue America has decided to match the first $1,000 we collect for any candidates on this page and donate it to Planned Parenthood. We want to help the organization in every way we can and that means giving directly but it also means electing leaders to congress who will stand up and fight for women's rights. It is imperative that we do both.

We are at a critical time in American politics. Please consider spending some of your "Giving Tuesday" dollars by donating to the Blue America candidates of your choice and we will double the effort by matching it with a donation to Planned Parenthood.

Is It Fair To Label Fiorina A Conspirator In The Colorado Springs Terrorism At Planned Parenthood?

>

"Victims of Our Games" by Chawky Frenn

Much like Illinois Republican Adam Kinzinger said on CNN while the terrorist was still inside the Planned Parenthood clinic shooting people, Herr Trumpf, while having his candidacy boosted by another Meet The Press interview yesterday, pronounced him (not Kinzinger, the other terrorist) sick and a maniac rather than a right-wing domestic terrorist or just some guy going overboard in carrying out the Republican Party agenda.
Trump did not respond directly when asked about reports that the alleged shooter, Robert Lewis Dear, discussed “baby parts” during an interview with law enforcement officials.

"This was a man who they said prior to this was mentally disturbed," he said. "So, he's a mentally disturbed person. There's no question about that."

Trump did, however, cite "tremendous dislike" for Planned Parenthood.

"Well, I will tell you there is a tremendous group of people that think it's terrible, all of the videos that they've seen with some of these people from Planned Parenthood talking about it like you're selling parts to a car. I mean, there are a lot of people that are very unhappy about that," he said.

"I see a lot of anxiety and I see a lot of dislike for Planned Parenthood. There's no question about that."
Fiorina and Huckabee, who enabled the terrorist with their constant barrage of lies and Planned Parenthood selling "baby parts," have been unapologetic-- even aggressively assertive, after their tragic handiwork. Fiorina, perhaps an even more calculating, malignant and bold-faced liar than Trumpf, referred to people connecting the dots between her hate speech and the Colorado Springs murderer as "typical left-wing tactics." Fiorina admonished what she called "pro-life" demonstrators to "always be peaceful" and then implied if they weren't they'd be like BlackLivesMatter protestors (who, as far as I've seen, haven't been running around murdering people the way at least one Fiorina follower, so far, has, but instead have been murdered themselves, in all likelihood inspired by outrageous Republican rhetoric). She's a very sick and very dangerous person and, fortunately, even the Republican base, which, recall, embraced Sarah Palin, has rejected her. Fiorina's polling numbers have continued to plummet as her inability to speak truthfully became clearer and clearer. Now in 6th place at 3.7%, RealClearPolitics documents her breathtaking slide from a high of 15% in a CNN poll in September to a mere 3% in the latest Fox News poll last week.

Yesterday on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos Michael McCaul pronounced the mass murder at the Planned Parenthood clinic "not an act of terrorism," but, in his words, "a mental health crisis." Right-wing Texas congressman, NRA-fanatic, anti-choice extremist and Boehner's Homeland Security Committee chair, McCaul, married into the Clear Channel fortune and is now the 5th richest Member of Congress with an estimated average net worth of $137,611,043. Since first winning the GOP nomination in 2004 for the then brand new 10th district, he has never faced a serious challenge and the DCCC hasn't recruited candidates to run against him. His district connects northern Austin-- Highland, Brentwood, North Loop, Rosedale, Allandale, Crestview, and North Shoal Creek-- to the western suburbs of Houston (Katy, Park Row, Cypress, Rose Hill, Tomball, and Hufsmith) with nothing much in between other than rural towns like La Grange, Brenham, Giddings, Round Top and Bastrop. When it looked like McCaul would be in jeopardy from an expanding Mexican-American population, the Republican state legislature illegally drew Hispanic voters out of his district. The DCCC didn't take them to court over it.

Jennifer Markovsky, mother of two.
Ke'Arre Stewart, father of two.
Garrett Swasey, father of two.

All murdered by a right-wing terrorist shouting "no more baby parts," inspired by self-serving Republican Party garbage Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina, Adam Kinzinger, Marco Rubio and Mike McCaul. Now these Republican scumbags refuse to say their names, let alone take responsibility for their deaths. In honor of Giving Tuesday, Blue America will be matching all contributions to our candidates up to $1,000 by writing a PAC check to Planned Parenthood. You can read all about that here-- why we're doing it, what our candidates think and how to get involved yourself.

Millionaire terrorist enabler Michael McCaul (R-TX)

UPDATE: Ted Cruz: "Rhetoric and language has consequences."

Yeah... they sure has! Jodi Jacobson of RH Reality Check reminded us that Ted Cruz, who adamantly rejects and relationship between right-wing hate speech and the murders and terrorism in Colorado Springs overrated weekend, didn't always feel that way. Well, he may have but he was once outspoken about the relationship between rhetoric and dire consequences. He tried blaming President Obama for the death of a police officer based on a spurious interpretation of something the president said.

"The violence we’re seeing directed against law enforcement," Cruz told the media,"is a direct manifestation of the harsh rhetoric and the vilification of police officers and law enforcement that sadly has come all the way from the top. Senior administration officials have chosen to vilify law enforcement."

There was no connection between anything Obama said and the deaths of police officers, of course-- Cruz was lying as usual-- but, as Jacobson wrote, "for Cruz and others in the GOP, this indictment of Obama serves a far-right meme percolating since at least the beginning of this year when, in response to Black Lives Matter (BLM)—the organic movement against police brutality that coalesced after the killing of Michael Brown in 2014—the right countered by blaming the victims of excessive police violence for their own deaths, denying the persistence of racism in our society, and claiming that efforts by Black people to assert their basic humanity were resulting in 'unprecedented' dangers for police.
Last Friday, two civilians and one police officer died and nine others were wounded in a vicious and wholly predictable attack at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The alleged gunman, Robert Lewis Dear, who used what the New York Times described as an assault-style rifle to blast his way into the health-care facility, reportedly said “no more baby parts” during his arrest.

This would be a direct reference to false and defamatory rhetoric ceaselessly repeated by GOP candidates and the anti-choice movement over the past six months to claim Planned Parenthood profited from the sale of fetal body parts for research, when not a shred of evidence of illegal or unethical activity has been produced.

It’s no secret that the GOP, now fully co-opted by what was once a radical Christian fringe, long ago set its sights on destroying access to reproductive health care in the United States. With callous disregard to the effects on the nearly three million a year who receive primary reproductive health care at Planned Parenthood clinics, the right has made a religious crusade of efforts to shutter Planned Parenthood, persistently threatening to shut down the entire U.S. government in an effort to do so. State legislatures and governors throughout the country have voted to strip funding from family planning and other forms of reproductive health care, destroying an essential keystone of public health. And an entire industry now exists devoted to, among other things, manufacturing lies about abortion and contraception; passing laws to reduce access to abortion care and make criminals of doctors and patients; picketing clinics; harassing and threatening providers and patients; and denying women medically accurate information.

In this environment, heated rhetoric about abortion providers is only one lit match away from a raging forest fire of hatred and violence culminating in unstable people taking matters into their own hands.

...In July... Cruz released a statement saying:
Today’s news regarding allegations that Planned Parenthood is possibly selling the body parts of the babies it has aborted is sickening. There is no place for taxpayer funding of organizations that profit from taking away innocent life, much less profiting off the bodies of the lives they have stolen. Congress should immediately begin an investigation of Planned Parenthood’s activities regarding the sale and transfer of aborted body parts, including who is obtaining them and what they are being used for. And it should renew efforts to fully defund Planned Parenthood to ensure that its morally bankrupt business receives not one penny of taxpayer money.
Cruz has continued to hammer this theme on the campaign trail. In a September op-ed, Cruz wrote about the “horrifying and barbaric nature” of Planned Parenthood, asserting, among other things, that “American taxpayers are currently forced to fund this likely criminal organization, which barters and sells the body parts of unborn children.”

Well after the videos were found to be falsified, GOP candidate Carly Fiorina, who as noted by University of California researcher Carole Joffe, “has the habit of forcefully doubling down on her [false] claims [even] when she is confronted with the truth,” continued to claim Planned Parenthood was guilty of “harvesting baby parts,” despite evidence that the video to which she pointed was falsified.

Mike Huckabee has made attacks on abortion providers and on Planned Parenthood a centerpiece of his campaign, claiming that clinics are “selling babies’ body parts like the parts of a Buick.” Huckabee has variously called Planned Parenthood a “kill for hire organization,” compared abortion providers to Hitler, and stated that “only since the Nazis have we seen such coldblooded indifference to human life.”

Variations on this theme have been endlessly repeated for months by presidential candidates Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Jeb Bush on TV, radio, and in print, and continued well after threats to clinics were directly linked by the FBI to the release of the CMP videos.

“Since the release of the initial video by pro-life organization Center for Medical Progress in July, investigators say there have been nine criminal or suspicious incidents across the country,” according to a report on the FBI findings by Jeff Pegues of CBS News.

Yes, Ted Cruz, rhetoric and language have consequences. And over and over again we’ve seen that the GOP and the anti-choice movement writ large blatantly disregard the likely consequences of their own rhetoric, and then cry foul when asked to do some soul-searching.

But by its own yardstick, the anti-choice community has this blood all over its hands.
And please don't forget to check this out as a means of just saying NO to ugly Republican hypocrisy and violence.

So, Obama Really Does Pal Around with Terrorists!

>

by Noah

The pictures do not lie. In the picture above, the dark, shadowy figure being chauffeured in a golf cart by President Obama is none other than House Speaker John Boehner. To be fair, and I always try to be fair, this may not be some Republican Driving Mr. Daisy fantasy come true. It could just be that the Secret Service took one look at Speaker Boehner as Saturday’s “golf summit” began and decided that Obama better be the one to drive the cart. After all, none of us want to see two of the top three in our government wrapped around a 100-year-old tree, or, God forbid, running down Vice President Joe Biden, who joined Obama and Boehner, along with Ohio’s neofascist teabag dictator John Kasich, in a morning of slamming little balls around on a green in Maryland -- before they got back to slamming us around in the afternoon.

I have nothing really against golf. I have to say, though, that if it hasn’t involved a miniature wooden windmill, or a dragon or a clown’s mouth, I’ve never aimed a golf ball at anything. I like the more complex and more physical games like baseball and football. Call me a middle-class traditionalist. I don’t think I’ve ever even been interested in being on a golf course, unless it would have involved a late-night date, but that’s for another post.

It really concerns me when presidents get all buddy-buddy with creatures that do not wish us well. Just a few weeks ago, we saw Bill Clinton being all friendly with Rep. Paul Ryan as they got caught off-stage in a dark curtained corner in what for Clinton amounts to just another episode of atrocious behavior which he thought would go undiscovered. Now we have this: Golfing with Terrorists.

President Obama continues to sell out not only us, but also his position of leadership. The Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, which are, as I see it, the main cause of our current budgetary fiasco, have gone unscathed, and Democrats have, either in an act of appeasement or as an act of desire, put the social safety nets of Medicare and Social Security on the table; thus making us chips and pawns in a very sick Washington game. Such things are not legitimate subjects for negotiation in the minds of normal, well-adjusted humans, but there’s a shortage of those in D.C. Yet we still get e-mails from the White House and from the DSCC and DCCC asking us for money so they can stab us in the back with a smaller knife.

I know it’s the Washington way, meeting political opponents halfway and all that. Maybe this looks good to wishy-washy independents who are really just Republicans that are afraid to admit it to themselves. Those are the voters Obama is trying to impress. But personally I don’t think President Obama should be meeting people like Boehner and Kasich halfway or even ten percent of the way. The Israelis got it right when they said you don’t negotiate with terrorists. Save that for when you’re dealing with reasonable people, Mr. President; not when you’re dealing with venomous reptiles and, yes, terrorists, terrorists who hold an entire country hostage while they deliberately delay economic improvement just for an Election Day advantage.

It may be "negotiating" to Obama. To cretins like Boehner, however, it’s winning incrementally: big increments at that. Give them that arm, and tomorrow they’ll come for both your legs. They’ll even try to get it without even asking (see Wisconsin dictator Scott Walker). These are people who don’t even want to help out the victims of tornados, just as they were not just willing but eager to see the auto industry and it’s 3,000,000 related industry jobs go down the tubes. For them, it’s what the hell do we care? We don’t know any of those people.

Too strong? Let’s look at it from the middle- and working-class viewpoint for once, not the viewpoint of the neofascists and their media and corporate supporters. Mr. President, your two golfing buddies want to withhold reasonably priced health care from tens of millions of American citizens. They would rather we just die of disease, disease caused by their ideal world of oily beaches and unregulated environments and food supplies. They would also like to finish the job of shipping all of our jobs overseas, thus taking food off our tables and out of the mouths of the next generations of Americans. They want to send us into unsafe mines to make them even more money. They want more nuke plants with less regulation. They want petrochemicals in drinking water, which we can set fire to as it comes out of our taps. They even want to be able to pull us from our cars if we don’t fit a physical description they can tolerate. They do all of this just for the “campaign contributions” from briefcase-toting terrorists on K Street and the satisfaction of their sick minds.

You too go along with too much of this behavior, but yes, they are even worse. Even now, they are willing to vote against raising the debt ceiling in order to plunge the entire world into economic chaos and darkness, just so they can seize power over whatever is left while billions of us starve or kill each other outside of the gated communities or the castle walls, fighting like dogs over the last bowl of grub, just like in medieval times. It’s pretty damn nihilistic. It’s the stuff of Marvel Comics and James Bond villains.

It’s also the stuff of Al Qaeda’s wildest dreams. People like Boehner and Kasich may not fly planes into buildings, but their actions will and do kill more people. They’ll even do it slower, nice and slowlike. So, where’s Team Six? Too much? How about you and Boehner face off with 9 irons -- or, better yet, tire irons at 20 paces. You could take him. You could beat the crap out of him if you wanted to. It would be no contest, and it’s the best way to beat a bully. Leave him crying in a sand trap. Sign your scorecard and walk away. They will never like you let alone love you. So, what’s it gonna be? Millions of voters want to know while millions of others suspect that they already do.

Four guys fiddling on a Saturday morning, while we burn.

Tea Party Gone Awry-- Dateline Florida

>

One of the crazier candidates in the Republican bottom of the barrel race to find a nominee to run against Alan Grayson is Dan Fanelli, who seems to believe-- quite openly, as you can see in the video above-- that only brown people should have to pass through security at the airports since in his narrow, scary world all terrorists are brown people. Grayson tried educating Republicans among his constituents that terrorists come in all sizes, shapes and color:
Apparently, Dan Fanelli is running against me because I'm not racist.

Fanelli's "racist madness" was reported on MSNBC, the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, CBS, and Talking Points Memo. You can watch the ad on Keith Olbermann's show, which dedicated a
whole segment to Fanelli.

But let's go through some pictures together, so Dan Fanelli can see some different faces of terrorism.

Does THIS look like a terrorist?

That's Timothy McVeigh.

Does THIS look like a terrorist?

That's Holocaust Museum shooter James Von Brunn.

Does THIS look like a terrorist?

That's white supremacist Daniel Cowart, who conspired to kill President Obama.

Does THIS look like a terrorist?

That's Jeff Berry of the KKK.

Terrorists come in all colors, shapes, sizes, and even genders. But Fanelli isn't really talking about terrorism. What Fanelli and his Republican bigot friends are saying is that American citizenship comes in two versions: white and nonwhite. That's why they want to put through laws that would require every single person to carry proof of citizenship, or risk arrest. Because they want to degrade and put down everyone who isn't just like them.

I have news for them. America is a nation, not a tribe.

In their very precise and well researched new book, Over The Cliff-- How Obama's Election Drove The American Right Insane John Amato and Dave Neiwert lay out the case very convincingly about how the Tea Party movement is a classic AstroTurf operation whose own participants actually believe they're an organic, grassroots movement. From the initial ranting and raving of ex-financial executive and stock broker Rick Santelli on CNBC to the millions of dollars in free promotion on Fox News and the millions of dollars in seed money from the billionaire Koch and Coors families, eager to pretend "their interests are the same as those of average working-class people who rent apartments, pay mortgages, hold two jobs, and pack school lunches for their kids," to the machinations of a desperate Republican Party, the Tea Party movement was always ... being guided along.

Glenn Beck, in fact, adopted the Orlando, Florida Tea Party as a kind of pet project talking about in constantly in late March of 2009 and urging whatever ambulatory viewers he has to attend. As with anything Beck touches, though, the Orlando Tea Party has turned into a complete disaster and is now embroiled in law suits and squabbles between factions and at least a good part of it has been taken over by the corrupt political hacks inside the Tallahassee Republican Party. Last night I got a media alert from John Hallman, the Executive Director of the (official) Florida Tea Party denouncing the Republican Party version as a fraud and a scam and pointing out their congressional candidate forum Thursday as a way of fleecing clueless Glenn Beck viewers. Unlike other recent teabagger vs teabagger brawls, this one didn't result in any fistfights or violence, but it is leaving conservatives dazed and confused about which tea party is legitimate and which one is just a GOP front.
The 'West Orlando Tea Party,' a group organized by two 'tea party' leaders, Jason Hoyt and Tom Tillison had originally scheduled the forum as 'open to the public and free. Now the group has published ticket prices that include $1,000 per person if the individual is not a Republican.

Official TEA Party 8th Congressional candidate Peg Dunmire denounced this outrageous fee as "un-American and a clear violation of the First Amendment. For these fake tea party groups to try to make tons of money from their self-proclaimed association with the tea party movement is not only wrong but could be criminal," concluded Dunmire.

Jason Hoyt and Tom Tillison have both been identified in Federal Election Commission reports as being paid GOP operatives for Todd Long, a competitor in the Republican primary for 8th Congressional District. Both individuals have also established the "Orlando Tea Party, LLC" as a for-profit entity unlike other tea parties that are non-profit.

Hoyt and Tillison have refused to disclose the amounts of money they have received from GOP sources.

Hoyt and Tillison are under investigation by the Florida Elections Commission for violating Florida Election laws by illegally charging candidates a fee to speak at forums (106.15) at events...The TEA Party is considering filing additional criminal complaints based on the clear violations of Florida Law and the First Amendment.

Meanwhile the Tallahassee GOP is financing a law suit by the Republican-backed fake Tea Party against the real Florida TEA Party, claiming that it's a Democratic front operation to confuse easily confused conservatives.
A Tampa Tea Party activist, with financial support from the Republican Party of Florida, is suing to remove four Florida TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party candidates from the ballot.

Don Hensarling alleged that “the TEA political party appears to be an organized effort to confuse and mislead conservative voters and is not a part of the real Tea Party movement."

RPOF Chairman John Thrasher applauded the legal action, saying the party was "happy to provide financial assistance to this legal challenge with the hope that these lawsuits will answer the plethora of questions surrounding these candidates, increasing transparency and most importantly protecting Florida voters from inadvertently supporting candidates who don’t reflect their values.”

Here's the official Tea Party of Florida candidate, Peg Dunmire, running against both Alan Grayson, who she swamped 72-28% in the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce straw poll, and whichever crook the Tallahassee Republicans embrace, likely Daniel Webster:

Maybe this would be a good time to get Grayson's back. We're getting very close to our goal for 2010.

Sally Kern (R-OK)  Stopped By Police Officer Attempting To Smuggle A Semiautomatic Into Oklahoma Capitol

>

Dan White & Sally Kern, two dangerous homophobic psychopaths

You may remember the tawdry story of Oklahoma's homophobic maniac Sally Kern. The demented state legislator is back in the news today, having been caught trying to smuggle a gun into the state capitol again. She wasn't arrested yesterday when she was found to be carrying a .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun into the capitol. When my pal Mike Rogers told me about the incident I panicked. I immediately thought of a friend of mine, Andrew Rice, a state senator working in the same building. It was a visceral reaction to the hate-obsessed sociopath Kern has publicly shown herself to be.

My panic was based on another local legislator, Dan White, sneaking a gun into City Hall in November, 1978 and murdering a friend of mine, San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk, and Mayor George Moscone, the father of another friend. It was a traumatic day for the entire city of San Francisco but especially for the gay community, Harvey having been the first openly gay man elected to any high profile office in America. He was beloved by the entire city but especially by the thousands of gay men and women who he inspired and made feel like they were an accepted part of society. Harvey used to read me letters in the back of his camera shop, letters from young men and women around the country-- from places like Kansas and Alabama and... Oklahoma, letters talking about despair and rejection but about how the national attention Harvey got was bringing them hope and a will to actually go on living. I still can't help but cry when I think about it.

Dan White, like Kern, is a hate-filled and bigoted right-winger. And like Kern he snuck a gun into City Hall. Unlike Kern, he wasn't stopped. He got in with his gun, went to Harvey's office and shot him dead and then went to mayor Moscone's office and shot him too. He later got off on the "Twinkie defense," claiming he had eaten too much sugar and wasn't in control of himself when he murdered the two. After a short time in prison he was released... and quickly found dead, an apparent "suicide."
Patrol spokeswoman Chris West said Republican Rep. Sally Kern was not charged because there did not appear to be any "malicious intent" behind her actions.

West said officers are allowed to "use their brains" when determining if an arrest should be made in such instances.

Let's hope they have brains to use.
