Your first reaction to seeing this photo of VP Mike Pence and cohorts in a state of deep prayer might be that they are praying that their god will vanquish the virus that sits before them on the table. But, these are Republicans. Never forget that. And, because they are Republicans, they might see their nihilism and hate as something that they can use to grow the virus and use to their own ends. According to the picture in tonight's meme, the coronavirus before them has already grown way beyond its initial microscopic size. Could this be a picture of it pulsing and feeding on the hate that republicans so willingly give? Ah, the power of thoughts and prayers!

OK. Perhaps I was being too harsh in the first paragraph. My tongue is firmly implanted in cheek but, hey, it is Republicans we're talking about and I know what lies at the core of being a Republican.

Maybe I've seen too many 1950s science fiction films or too many Hammer films from the 1960s. Yeah, that's it. I've missed the obvious. The biggest monsters are those white men (and one token white woman) in the picture and those like them. Like I said, they are Republicans. So, the question is-- Given that they are Repugs, who are they praying that the virus kills first? Republicans live for having a target. So, who is it this time? Gays? Longhairs? Muslims? Unionists? The poor? Does the Trump administration see the virus as a golden opportunity to remake the world? Is this why they've been so lax? Do they foolishly think they get to choose who the virus hits? Do they see the coronavirus a neutron bomb that will get rid of undesirable "enemies" but leave all the remaining space for real estate development? How Trumpian!
