Trump Accuses China Of Intellectual Property Theft... While He Applauds His Own Campaign's Intellectual Property Theft

>

Politicians on both sides of the aisle beat up China for stealing American intellectual property-- in other words, using it without paying for it. Trump has been particularly vocal about it. Trump, however, has consistently been stealing intellectual property, getting caught and reprimanded and then doing it again, and again, and again. The ominous-sounding Trump campaign video is anything but uplifting. There's an underlying ugliness to it-- primarily an invocation of danger and fear through the prominent music track in the background. It's very a very effective use of the music from a Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. Trump loved it. He tweeted it out to his followers. Unfortunately, his campaign didn't bother asking permission to use it, let alone pay to use it.

Warner Brothers issued a cease and desist order and the Trump campaign had to withdraw the ad.

I spoke to one of my old colleagues from Warners who told me that politicians generally have no respect for copyrights and no respect for musicians' rights. "They think they can use our music for free and that no one will care or notice. Both sides do it," she told me. "The complaints that come in are about 99% about Republican theft though... maybe a little more than 99%... Zimmer's 'Why Do We Fail' composition was a smart choice by Trump's campaign folks. They should have paid just like everyone else does."

This one, using music and footage from Bollywood smash Bajirao Mastani, is still up on YouTube but is no longer embeddable. This is what you get when you try to watch it on a non-YouTube site, as we found when we went to watch it again on a Sunday night DWT post. Watch it full screen.

americans have been giving their intellectual property over to cheap labor locales for 70 years. It is 'bi-party-san' in that it has been corporations(*) seeking cheap labor and willing, eager even, to trade intellectual property for the privilege of using near slave labor.

(*) corporations that bribe both partys with a piece of the same increased profits from this trade, that is.

America doesn't make consumer electronics any more because of this. How much of our tech labor is now made up of Indians? let's talk cars and appliances too.

it isn't theft if we give it to them. it's STUPIDITY bred by greed.

fuck we're stupid!

In a related issue, back around 2004 the US Navy actually discussed building their ships in China. How much would the Chinese have learned about shipbuilding?

They already know a great deal, considering one of their Song-class submarines surfaced in the middle of an anti-submarine exercise. The sub was completely undetected until it broke surface very close to the carrier Kitty Hawk. There would have been no stopping a kill shot if it had been war time.

The Chinese also have developed a satellite killer, which they demonstrated to the world unannounced.

In a more peaceful venture, China was the first to safely land a satellite on the dark side of the moon.

I think I can safely project that China will reach Mars before the US even has a vehicle to get there.

The US walked away from massive leads in technology because waging Terran war for profit was much more important to those who make the decisions - whether or not the public approves. Under such "leedurshit", I doubt anyone has to "steal" American intellectual property. The greedy bastards are giving it away to make a couple of million more.

somewhere around 1980 we went from seeking better solutions to seeking only bigger profits, though the latter was certainly prevalent since the end of WWII. But around 1980, greed became our one and only motivation. Reagan encouraged it, but voters went all in for greed.

it should be no surprise, then, that we will sink to any new low, burn our laws and society, corrupt all government, conduct wars and destroy any number of the lives of American chattel (everyone below the .1%) it takes to make another dollar for the top .1%.

trump begged wikileaks to get $hillbillary's e-mails and they did.

now trump wants to kill assange.

no American has the potential to see the hypocrisy... so what's the problem?

in today's America, laws only apply to the slave class.
