Of course, the corporate masters and their pathetic, sycophantic tools in Washington aren't going to raise taxes on the rich back to a sane level. They won't even raise them back to the level of the Reagan years, let alone consider the day in 1963 when JFK proposed to lower the top tax rate from 91% down to 65%. No wonder he got shot in the streets of Dallas. 65% was controversial then. It was also controversial when the Revenue Act of 1964 lowered the corporate tax rate from 52% to 47%. Thanks to the Trump/Ryan Tax Scam Of 2017, the later will now be 21%, not counting loopholes, deductions, etc., even subsidies for many; taken form our tax dollars, of course. Just think of the golden opportunities for money laundering for newly minted oligarchs! And, who better to oversee it all but Trump's Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross?
Gee, despite all those horribly high "job killing" tax rates back then, the economy worked so well that we could afford to waste money and lives on Vietnam, loan money to kids for college (myself included) at reasonable, non-usury rates, build cars here, and put men on the moon. Now, in late 2017, I can think of many men I'd like to put on the moon, sans spacesuits.
There is one thing we can still afford to make here in the good ol' U.S.A.: Guillotines.

I want to stay up at night counting my nickels and dimes confident in the knowledge that the real money is in the hands of those who deserve it most and will use it most responsibly.
We have much more to worry about these days. This tax travesty, gigantic as it is, in only one of the threats facing the American economy and democracy. As I have said in other comments, "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Republicans!." This is a literal statement.
Now there is a cabal of Republicans within the party secretly aiming to destroy and criminalize the FBI and the Justice Department and get rid of the entire Mueller investigation. Headed by Nunes, the asshole, who has already been exposed as a Trump ass kisser. We are getting deeper and deeper into Bizarro Superman World. The Republicans are the real criminals. Traitors all, as well. Trump is Putin's bitch and all of this collusion is staring us right in the face. It is so obvious! The meshing of Trump et al. with the Russians has been going on for many years.
Obama should have ripped the head off this before the election - his decision not to was NOT in the best interests of our country. He thought protecting the perceived morality of the Democratic party was more important than telling the truth to the American people. He was concerned that it would be viewed as politicizing, when all the Republicans do is politicize everything! Another major Obama failure, along with not going after the highly illegal Bush cabal to get us into the Iraq war - also based on subterfuge and LIES. Similarities reign.
Here we go, further into fascism, just like Germany in the 1930's. Destroy the institutions of government to consolidate authority and power. And we cannot expect the Supreme Court to be much help either, with the Gorsuch cabal.
Hone, it's very difficult to find anything obamanation did that was NOT a failure (calculated or accidental).
But there are precedents for his failure on Russian intervention.
LBJ refused to hold the '68 election even knowing that Nixon had negotiated with the NV to prevent a peace accord until after he was elected so he could run on having a secret plan for peace (it was a lie, of course, but americans are fucking morons!).
Perhaps using LBJ's tacit approval of Nixon's treason, Jimmy Carter also demurred when Reagan committed an almost identical treason by negotiating with Iran to keep the hostages in captivity until after his election in 1980 so he could run as the guy who would bring the captives home.
Both Nixon and Reagan should have been arrested for treason and both elections should have been at least delayed. But neither democrat had the balls to do that.
So obamanation, not having balls either, did have precedents for doing nothing when elections are manipulated by the right.
Only in America could "democratic elections" matter less than the delusion of democratic elections amid the tyranny of the money. Even our courts now have 3 precedents instructing future cases that counting votes should not be done because it would tend to harm the presumed winner (on the right).
I would remind you that the interstate highway system was built because the auto industry colluded with the oil industry to lobby Eisenhower and congress to do that rather than build a robust rail xport system.
Eisenhower wanted infrastructure in place to move men and equipment rapidly in response to threats, which was somewhat lacking in WWII. Rail was and is the cheaper and more efficient choice. But the auto industry wanted everyone to have to buy their cars and the oil companies wanted to sell them all a lot of gas and other stuff made from oil.
BTW: Detroit and big oil also colluded in destroying trolley systems in every big city that had one except for SF and subways for the same reason. Thus were born suburbs, 2 and 3-car garages, rush hours, gridlock and an entire banking industry (auto loans). banks couldn't let Detroit and standard oil make all the profit from that shit.
