EMILY's List Weighs In Against Another Progressive On Behalf Of A Corrupt Corporate Shill-- This Time In Florida

>

A list that comes with a bad odor

EMILY's List used to be thought of as a cherished, even indispensable, piece of the progressive infrastructure. That was a long time ago. More recently they've been part of an insidious and corrosive conservative consensus that wants no truck with progressives. EMILY's List only has one real concern-- the regeneration of the "business" of EMILY's List itself. I was disappointed that a friend of mine went to work for them this year. I warned her that she was going to war on the wrong side of the battle lines. She pooh-poohed my concerns. It couldn't be more than two months later that she called and told me she had walked out and couldn't have stayed working for these monsters for another minute. No one who cares about making America a better place could.

In the past we've talked about how they ran a corrupt and conservative shill, Nikki Tinker, from the Harold Ford, Jr. machine against sterling progressive Steve Cohen in Memphis. Once word started leaking out that EMILY's List money was financing a virulently racist and anti-Semitic campaign against Cohen and EMILY's List own fundraising from the women who have been hoodwinked by them for so many years was in jeopardy, they withdrew their endorsement... on election day! After many people had already taken EMILY's List advise and voted for the anti-Semite.

Did they at least learn any valuable lessons? Only to be sneakier and less transparent in what they do. More recently they've been backing a wealthy, conservative one-percenter, Elizabeth Esty, against the tried and true Speaker of the House of Connecticut, Chris Donovan. Donovan could be an important national leader for the progressive movement nationally, the way he has in Connecticut, passing a treasure trove of dream legislation in his state. Esty... another useless Democratic hack who will live to see how many times she can make common cause with the Republicans against working families.

And now they're up to the same trick in Miami-Dade where they've dug up another useless, rich conservative from Broward County to parade around as a faux-Democrat, Gloria Romero Roses. And they're on the attack against the progressive in the race, Joe Garcia. EMILY's List is up to their favorite trick, fighting with labor unions and opposing a candidate who backs legitimate aspirations for working families-- and Gloria Romero Roses is tailor-made for them. A nasty, vicious gut fighter, Romero Roses has run an entirely negative campaign against Garcia with self-financed hit piece after self-financed hit piece. This is right up EMILY's List's alley and they're being encouraged from the worst and most corrupt factions in the Beltway Democratic Establishment.

Keep in mind that Romero Roses was too busy busting unions and grasping for millions to even bother to vote before 2008. Remember back in 2000 when every vote in Florida counted and Bush claimed the presidency based on a 537 vote win in Florida? Gloria was otherwise occupied... firing a minimum wage employee and mother of three just because she asked for help paying for her health insurance. She and her husband made millions by paying workers minimum wage and denying them basic healthcare benefits. When employees would speak up and ask Gloria for increases in pay or benefits, her company would fire them. The National Labor Relations Board ruled against her company four times, saying the firings were unfair and retaliatory. It's why the unions refuse to back her. If she wins the primary, David Rivera, one of the most corrupt Republicans in Congress-- right up there on a level with Michael "Mikey Suits" Grimm (R-NY), Howard "Buck" McKeon (R-CA), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), and Frank Guinta (R-NH)-- will wind up back in Congress again, exactly what the Fanjul brothers-- America's own sugar barons, who fund both party establishments, particularly Debbie Wasserman Schultz-- want.

When the DCCC dumped their last pathetic recruit for the 26th CD, Luis Garcia, they claimed he was lazy and hadn't raised enough money. He had actually raised more money and from more donors than Romero Roses. The difference is, she just writes her campaign checks. and then flies around the district on her private jet. Maybe the rich lady from Broward is afraid to drive through the district she wants to represent, preferring to fly over it, like Bush over New Orleans after Katrina! If she sounds like some kind of Franksnstein monster mashup between Bush and Romney, she should; that's what she is. But the DCCC is happy to call these kinds of people "Democrats," further bringing the party brand into disrepute.

Maybe if Joe had a little nasty, vicious gut fighter in him, he wouldn't have gotten his ass handed to him twice, including when President Obama turned out Democrats to vote in record numbers.

The Miami Herald revealed the truth about Romero Roses in the endorsement it gave her. Here is what the Herald said:

"Ms. Roses, however, offers the right contrast to stand against an incumbent who has been in the headlines for investigation of his finances.

With vast business experience and community service, she is a fresh face who can attract the independent voters that can make the difference in a district closely divided between Republicans and Democrats. The new redrawn district stretches from the southwest suburbs of Miami-Dade to the Florida Keys.

In a Congress too often at gridlock because of partisan bickering, Ms. Roses would be willing to approach issues based on their merits not solely on party lines.

Smart and engaging, Ms. Roses has well-thought-out policy issues. She is particularly critical of what she calls tax and revenue “giveaways” to oil and pharmaceutical companies and says the federal government must be allowed to negotiate better prices for its drug programs.

Her community activity includes working on housing and workforce committees with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and helping with Haiti relief efforts.

For U.S. Congress in District 26, Democratic primary, The Herald recommends GLORIA ROMERO ROSES."

That is all that needs to be said.
