EMILY'S List-- Up To Their Old Tricks, Subverting A Progressive In Connecticut For A Corporate Shill
>
Worried about mealy-mouthed progressives who will buckle when ConservaDem careerists like Steny Hoyer or Joe Crowley lean on them? I spoke to one today who's running for Congress against a awful Republican. I really wanted to support him. But after half an hour on the phone I was dizzy and I felt in need of a cold shower or a swim. Every word was so parsed and so nuanced that I couldn't get a feel for where he actually stood on any issues at all-- other than mom and apple pie. I prefer candidates like Connecticut House Speaker Chris Donovan. Above is his first TV ad for a primary (August 14) against a sleazy conservative Democrat being pushed by corporate power brokers EMILY's List.
Donovan is one of the greatest and most accomplished legislative leaders in the history of Connecticut and the steaming pile that EMILY's List has turned into attacked him using typical Republican framing. EMILY's List, which has disgraced itself by running a virulently anti-Semitic and racist corporate shill against Rep. Steve Cohen in Memphis, is telling it's members in Connecticut to not vote for Donovan because he raised taxes, not mentioning that his tax agenda was to make the rich pay their fair share in order to provide needed services for middle and working class residents. EMILY's List has badly lost its way. They claim their corporate candidate is for "responsible budgeting," meaning she tried to cut Medicaid, education and services to Connecticut's most needy families, particularly widowed and unmarried women with children. Whose side is EMILY's List on? It's been many many years since they were on anyone's side but the rich donors who pay their own inflated salaries. Everything about Elizabeth Esty says "Blue Dog" or "new Dem." That's what EMILY's List has turned into. " most contemptible than EMILY's List.
If you like Chris Donovan's ad and want to see it running on TV right through election day, please consider contributing to his campaign here.
