Another GOP Civil War In California-- The Recall Against Anthony Adams
>
Two of L.A.'s most listened to Hate Talkers are John and Ken on KFI. They're kind of funny and wacky, and what they hate is anything that is vaguely progressive. They are an ultimate pair of reactionaries. Don't try "we're all in the same boat" with them; they'll throw you right off it and into the jaws of a hungry shark. When Alan Grayson caused a stir by pointing out that Republican health care is, basically, "don't get sick, and if you do, die fast," John and Ken cheered-- not Grayson, the Republican idea. They admit they want poor people to die quick.
They claim the credit for the successful recall effort of conservative Democratic Governor Gray Davis ("Gumby" in their nasty world). And then they went on an anti-immigrant jihad and targeted David Dreier, a powerful senior GOP leader who they nearly caused to lose to an unknown, unfunded Democratic lesbian. This month they're on another kind of jihad, one aimed at recalling Republican Assemblyman Anthony Adams of Claremont. Their radio show has spent months championing the recall effort, and they've collected about 60,000 signatures. (By October 13, they need 36,000 of them to be legitimate and valid.)
Recall proponents have targeted Adams because he voted this year for a budget deal that included raising taxes-- something Adams pledged he would never do.
Adams has defended his decision, saying the state could not have dealt with its crushing budget deficits this year without additional tax money.
Aside from John and Ken, Orange County teabaggers have been working hardest on the recall. Here they are at one of their tea parties:
