What Are We Going To Do About All The Determined And Purposeful Ignorance Regarding Health Care Reform?

>

Was Grassely having a senior moment when he encouraged constituents to think they need "choice," not a public option-- or just doubling down on the lies?

I have an idea for how Democrats can deal with the unreasonable-- even irrational-- and malicious lies Big Insurance is spreading, and frightened seniors are believing, about health care reform. Most teabaggers insist there are death panels; even more are certain the reform bill will cover "illegal immigrants" and that health care will be "rationed" and a startling 78% of Republicans are convinced that the health care legislation means that taxpayers will pay for women to have-- godforbid-- abortions. Of course none of this is in the bill but telling them that, only gets them angry and makes them scream, "Read the bill" over and over. So Democrats should just tell them how brilliant they are for their diligent sleuthiness and how they will immediately re-work the bill so that all of those things are eliminated and then thank them for their patriotism and lead them in a rousing few minutes of "God Bless America" or "The Star Spangled Banner," or, better yet, both. Then remind them to be sure and come back for discussions of Cap and Trade in the autumn.

There is a simple solution. Cancel the current health insurance for the entire Congress and tell them to go shop for their own. Including supplying complete past medical history and taking physicals so the insurance companies can turn them down at their discretion. And don't forget insuring dependents....who also may be turned down for any past or present health issue.
They will change their tune so fast it will make you dizzy.

Oh, but Celestite: true, the legislators would be angry--and that's a good thing--but their median incomes are far above the average American. Most will be easily able to afford health care. Instead, I'd rather lock people like Kyl, Grassley, or the Twin Idiots from Oklahoma individually in a room with an articulate, intelligent person who is watching a loved one die because they can't pay to save them. And keep them in there, for 24 hours, without any outside contact.

I'm sure hypocrisy would be restored once the senators left their cells. But maybe a little crack in the facade would remain behind, just enough to left a bit of ethics like acid dribble into their miserable, shriveled up souls.

What the Republicans are saying is a very exaggerated version of the truth. Most laws have loopholes, and HR3200 does have some, especially concerning illegal immigrants. My concern is this. The government runs social security. Social security will be bankrupt soon. The government runs Medicaid and Medicare. They will be bankrupt soon as well. And now they want to run our health care system? The fact is, our politicians are not good businessmen, they wheelers and dealers. While health care should focus on health and not money, the plain fact is, everything is about business. That's what makes the world go round.

I wonder where Ed's head is, because he should research the things he is reporting, and be aware that there is nothing in place, in the Government's plan to check status of illegals. When a clause to restrict use by illegals Was proposed by a Nevada representative, it was voted down by the Democrats. They also shot down E-verify,an amendment that would specifically bar illegals.Old Ed ignores that! Second; There is a loophole, that does allow abortions for all. It's incredible, that a TV host would not know this, maybe he is following the Democratic practice of not reading what bills you sign.Three One would think that Ed would figure out that you won't be able to keep your health plan, because it will have to compete with the Government. We all know how well the Government handles programs. Hell! we even have "CASH FOR CONS" plan where Prisoners were sent stimulus money. The only state that caught it and stopped it was Texas. Prison commissaries were hopping filling orders. Your government at work. How do you think they will manage Health care? HAH! Ed also remarked, there is no end of life program. Wow !how did he come to that conclusion with Ezekiel Abraham and other White house advisers who advocating that very premise in their recent publications. Ed, Please research your comments and have your researchers study instead of listening to the talking heads.

Those who say social security will go bankrupt soon are like the guys who hang around street corners with signs proclaiming "Repent-The End Is Near!" The right has been playing this frayed old card for decades, almost from the start, when they tried to stop it in the first place. Each new generation of wingnuts thinks they came up with the idea. The Social Security Admin. has never missed a check payment and we can make adjustments as we go along, as we always have, despite the right's attempts to stop it. That's a benefit of our system. Just imagine if Bush had succeeded in PRIVATIZING Social Security just before the market collapsed. THAT would have been a REAL DEATH PANEL.

If you want to keep paying more and more and getting less and less, then keep everything as it is, That's the Repug and Blue Dog dream. The only ones that benefit are the politicians that rake in the bribes, not us, regardless of where we stand on the political spectrum.

Our tax dollars going to heath care for illegal immigrants? I've got news for you. They already do, every time an illegal immigrant goes to an ER. The idea is to lower that cost, which is now $42.7 BILLION A YEAR, divided up into a hidden tax for ALL of us. I'd like to see that hidden tax lowered as much as the anti-reform folks who seem to want to have their own costs double in the next 8 years until half of their income goes for health care do not. People should not have to choose between losing their homes or dying. THAT'S a DEATH PANEL.
Righties: Get a clue and stopped being played by a Medical and Insurance business and it's political and media pawns that take you for fools.

About Republican Political lying - See "Boogeymand: The Lee Atwater Story". Order two DVDs, one to view and one to share. Lee Atwater was Karl Roves mentor in dirty politics. This documentary will inform you more than anything about the Republican lying machine. It is better to be informed on how they work. They have no shame.
