Comedy Tonight: Say, didja hear the one about RNC Chair "Hip-Hop Mikie" Steele and the wingnut talk-show host?

>

"When stuff gets in the crapper, you gotta flush it out."
-- RNC Chairman "Hip-Hop Mikie" Steele (aka "the gift that keeps on giving"), agreeing with Missouri conservative radio host Vincent David Jericho about GOP Senate hopeful Rep. Roy Blunt's weak conservative credentials

I've been kind of hard on the Obama folks today, but gee whiz, however badly the administration underperforms, they have the good fortune to have as their official opposition Today's Republican Party Inc., which is about the underperformingest bunch of drifters, malcontents, and plain old loonies ever assembled under a political tent.

On Saturday, Fired Up! Missouri's Sean had this report of the latest words of wisdom from Chairman "Hip-Hop Mikie":

Michael Steele Flushes Roy Blunt Down "The Crapper"

Submitted by .Sean on August 22, 2009 - 10:03am

Yesterday, conservative Springield radio host Vincent David Jericho spoke with RNC Chairman Michael Steele. In their conversation, Jericho unleashed a litany of criticisms against Roy Blunt, Matt Blunt and other Washington Republicans.

"Guys like Papa Blunt make us sick to our stomach. They aren’t conservatives, and they sure don’t reflect moral absolute the way that we expect the Republican Party to stand up," Jericho said.

Steele responded: "I agree with you. And when stuff gets in the crapper, you gotta clean it out."

Here's a partial transcript:

VINCENT JERICHO: “But I’ve also made my career here by challenging Baby Blunt [former Gov. Matt Blunt] and how he just absolutely, ah, betrayed every single Missourian that worked so hard to get him elected on the ridiculous stand he took where he redefined what cloning is. And this is supposed to be a Republican governor. He’s not governor anymore for good reason.

>“His [Matt Blunt’s] daddy [Roy] screwed around with a tobacco lobbyist. Then slips language into the homeland security bill favorable to the tobacco lobbyist. I mean here is a guy that has committed adultery multiple times. Yet he had a senior position, and still does, in the Republican Party. Guys like Papa Blunt [right] make us sick to our stomach. They aren’t conservatives, and they sure don’t reflect moral absolutes the way that we expect the Republican Party to stand up. You had the page boy scandal, you had all of that crap, and nobody stands up to it and says, ‘This is crap! What are you doing? [Steele tries to cut in; unintelligible] Behave like a man – not like, not like little boys who are running around with their little toy and can’t behave themselves.”

MICHAEL STEELE: Look, now don’t, don’t – I mean, I agree with you. And when stuff gets in the crapper, you gotta clean it out."

When the leader of the Republican National Committee won't stand up for his party's leading candidate for US Senate, that's a bit of a problem, no?

PAPA BLUNT POSTSCRIPT

Howie wants to be sure we all remember about Papa B: "Blunt has an uphill race for Senate, and he's gobbled up $564,032 in what I call 'thinly-disguised bribes' from the insurance industry, which at least partially accounts for his unswerving dedication to preventing working families from enjoying the benefits of even the modest health care reforms encompassed in the public option (a compromise)."

No. I disagree, Ken: they should stand by their principles, and signal to the state GOP and local branches that only candidates who pass the litmus test of orthodoxy will be allowed into the fold.

That will deal effectively with the Republicans as a party. It will leave plenty of time for the Democrats to decompose into several smaller parties, much to the chagrin of Rahm.

See how simple it is? ;)

You have a point, B, and bearing Howie's points in mind, it does appear that Missouri R's think Roy Blunt -- Lord help us, Roy Blunt! -- is too liberal. Which means the Dems can nominate . . . well, one shudders to think who or what the Dems can nominate.
