Are You Looking For A Job? The Job Of A Lifetime?

People For The American Way has an opening. They want to hire a new President/CEO.
Personally I'm hoping they don't hire some Inside-the-Beltway establishment creature and the fact that they're created a public website for applications augurs well for that hope. I can't think of a more noble organization a DWT reader might want to work for. You can read all about PFAW at that website or on wikipedia but, in brief, let me say that they've been battling the Right, effectively, since Norman Lear, Andrew Heiskell, and Barbara Jordan founded it in 1981. From their mission statement:
People For the American Way is dedicated to making the promise of America real for every American: Equality. Freedom of speech. Freedom of religion. The right to seek justice in a court of law. The right to cast a vote that counts. The American Way.
Our vision is a vibrantly diverse democratic society in which everyone is treated equally under the law, given the freedom and opportunity to pursue their dreams, and encouraged to participate in our nation’s civic and political life. Our America respects diversity, nurtures creativity and combats hatred and bigotry.
We believe a society that reflects these constitutional principles and progressive values is worth fighting for, and we take seriously our responsibility to cultivate new generations of leaders and activists who will sustain these values for the life of this nation.
Our operational mission is to promote the American Way and defend it from attack, to build and nurture communities of support for our values, and to equip those communities to promote progressive policies, elect progressive candidates, and hold public officials accountable.
Among the recipients of PFAW's prestigious Spirit of Liberty Award have been Nancy Pelosi, Green Day, Ben Affleck, George Lopez, Ed Norton, Gore Vidal, George Clooney, Dick Durbin, Neil Young, Tim Gill, Bill Moyers, Walter Cronkite, Ted Turner, Teddy Kennedy, Charles Kuralt, and Aaron Sorkin. Over the years, People For and the Foundation grew to become leading forces in the progressive movement, with hundreds of thousands of supporters and a skilled professional staff advancing the American Way and protecting core constitutional values through:
• rigorous research and analysis of the Right’s political activities and development of counter-strategies
• creative communications, public education, and media outreach
• vigorous legal and public policy advocacy
• effective coalition building, online organizing, and grassroots mobilization
• leadership development in key constituencies, including recruitment, training, mentorship, and placement
Or... there's always this:

I just went to the PFAW web site and sent an email suggesting that the best person to run that organization is the world renowned fascist fighter, a certain Howie Klein.
