Is Snarlin' Arlen Specter Really A Democrat?

>

No one outside the Beltway thinks so but Joe Biden is standing behind his lame deal with the Republican to come on over to the Democratic side of the aisle. Over 6,200 people have voted in the blog poll asking whether we should draft Joe Sestak to run against Specter in the primary. Voting ends today. Did you vote? If you didn't, you still can-- here.

Watch John King ask the other Pennsylvania senator, Bob Casey, if Specter is really a Democrat. You think he thinks so?

Sen. Specter came home to his early party affiliation. Sen. Specter's Wikipedia record says that he ran for Philadelphia District Attorney in 1965 on the Republican ticket as a registered Democrat and that, after being elected, he changed his registration to Republican.

Soemtimes Specter stands up for what he feels is right even if it may hurt him. I will always remember Specter as the former prosecutor who realized that Anita Hill was lying and cross-examined her toughly. He thus helped keep a Supreme Court confirmation from being derailed by lies. Specter did this though the Pennsylvania polls indicated the easy path to Senate reelection in 1992 was to oppose Thomas.
