Food Fight On The Far Right: Limbaugh Claims Jonah Goldberg Isn't A True Obstructionist

>

Although his serial clownish behavior has relegated Michael Steele to the role of freakish sideshow in the horrific and disintegrating GOP circus, he may be trying to get the spotlight back onto himself with a full bore attack on President Obama's legitimacy, accusing him of being part of the "blame America first" crowd (wingnut speak for "unpatriotic"). He's clearly following the lead of the Republican Party's real leader, radio entertainer and propagandist, Rush Limbaugh.

Limbaugh reignited a simmering Republican civil war (again) by savagely attacking another lunatic fringe extremist, Jonah Goldberg for joining, even if just for a fleeting moment, the mainstream of America in congratulating Obama, as head of this nation, for the Navy's rescue of Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates. Acknowledging that-- in the dark and nefarious world of the radical right-- is to acknowledge the legitimacy of President Obama and the U.S. government. That's something the facsist-oriented Republican clowns like Limbaugh, Coulter, Steele, Hannity, O'Reilly, "Rev" Fred Phelps, Senator Richard Burr, Savage, Beck will never permit. Goldberg went beyond the pale in wingnutia; and he's now being inundated with Limbaugh-inspired hate mail and being forced to defend himself (from his compatriots on the far, far right) and his lunatic fringe credentials: "I think my credentials as a critic of Obama are pretty solid. But I find the idea that I have to be critical no matter what Obama does to be exhaustingly unappealing."

Remember, the self-obsessed it's-all-about-meeeeeee drug addicted Limbaugh, had already said that he not only hopes Obama fails in general but that he hopes the U.S. Navy fails too. In Limbaugh's warped mind, any damage accrued to America or Americans will turn the country towards fascism which, he thinks, will allow him to pay lower taxes.
Limbaugh began his Monday show by saying -- every word dripping with extreme sarcasm-- "I want to single out today, Jonah Goldberg at National Review Online for being the first that I saw to have the proper reaction to the rescue of Captain Phillips from the merchant marine organizers, and that was to congratulate President Obama for a job well done. And I think we all must agree, folks, that when Obama does something right, we gotta go out there and we've got to acknowledge it."

Limbaugh's assault might be considered ill-natured, given that Goldberg had defended him just last month-- when Limbaugh came under fire for saying he wanted to see Obama fail -- and had condemned the attacks on Limbaugh as "a tired rehash."

However, Limbaugh apparently felt no need on Monday to reciprocate for Goldberg's earlier support. After going on for a while about how the rescue should be made into a movie starring Will Smith as Barack Obama and himself, Sarah Palin, Eric Cantor, and Bobby Jindal as the pirates, Limbaugh returned to invoking Goldberg's name over and over, each time twisting the knife just a bit deeper.

"We just can't be constant critics," Limbaugh purred. "As Jonah Goldberg has pointed out in National Review today, we must, when we see brilliance in action, decisiveness-- the SEALs? ... SEALs couldn't have done diddly-squat were it not for the decisive, cool under pressure, first test passed President Obama... And he deserves praise. Jonah Goldberg at National Review was first to point out, he does the right thing, we gotta say so."

Even when a caller suggested, " I think that you're just rattled because it worked out... If it didn't work you would just be peeing yourself with joy," Limbaugh insisted, "I'm not upset about it... I was second out of the box telling people when he does the right thing we gotta-- just like Jonah Goldberg said."

"And you are out of your mind," the caller retorted. "And I only check back... just to make sure that you are still as crazy as I think you are... And you are, and you prove it every time I listen to you."

Although the dittohead universe has now marked more hapless Goldberg as a blood enemy-- couldn't happen to a more deserving imbecile-- other right-wing Republicans are taking his side and telling Limbaugh to shut up already and stick to his trained seal act.

when did slimebot start letting callers talk who insulted him, or questioned him?

i admit i (consciously) haven't listened since the mid '90s, so this may not be so new a thing asa I imagine. But his calls used to be ferociously screened, and there was a 10-second delay...
