GOP Wish To See America Fail Rather Than Allow Obama To Succeed Taken To Extreme By Orange County Extremist Dana Rohrabacher

>

OC kook Dana Rohrabacher (extreme right) playing Taliban in Afghanistan

Last year right wing extremist Dana Rohrabacher barely squeaked through a grassroots re-election challenge by Debbie Cook. Although the DCCC refused to assist Cook, Rohrabacher only managed to attract 53% of the vote, the worst showing of his career. He spent $741,821 to Cook's $481,660. Had the DCCC spent just a fraction of the money on Cook that they wasted on Alabama reactionaries like Bobby Bright and Parker Griffith, who keep voting with Republicans (but only on the important stuff), Congress wouldn't have to endure another two years of the intolerable Rohrabacher.

Needless to say, he's opposed everything that President Obama has proposed this year, from equal pay for women to health insurance for needy children and, of course, the Stimulus package. But as Orange County Progressive diarist joeesha pointed out today, Rohrabacher has a crazy way of justifying his obstructionism-- crazy even for a far right lunatic fringe kook like himself.
"Some people claim the Republicans economic plans have failed. Nothing could be further from the truth.

We needed to crash the real estate and construction industry to end opportunity for the illegal immigrants who were destroying our schools and health care. The Republican plan is working."

The millions who have lost the equity in their homes, or half their life savings, and the 3.6 million Americans who have lost their jobs in the last year are true patriots who are sacrificing for their country.

The last thing in the world we need is an economic stimulus plan which will put Pedro and his friends back to work."

If that sounds certifiably insane to you... you probably don't live in a deep red hellhole like some of the parts of Orange County where Rohrabacher draws his support. And if you think this is bizarre coming from a member of Congress, keep in mind that before 9/11 Rohrabacher used to brag that he was an honorary Afghan mujahideen-- having been over to Afghanistan for a photo op-- and even today was pushing his Planet X foresight obsession and his Near Earth Object Preparedness Act. Hopefully Obama's post-partisanship won't include asking Rohrabacher for his input on Afghanistan-- or immigration reform.

I went to OC Progressive's site and his link to a news article apparently containing the Rohrabacher quote didn't have the quotation or even mention Rohrabacher. A Google search turned up only DWT and OC Progressive. Where the source on this quote. The reason I ask is that if it's truly a real thing he said, maaaaaaaan that's good ammunition for 2010. (Also could be subject of MSM coverage and talking heads. or at least should be.)

Could you help me find it?

I'll contact my friend at the OC Progressive today and see what they've got. There was also a Daily Kos story.

funny, a friend of mine who used to write for the L.A. Times swears to me that Dana is actually a huge coset case, and that his "wife" had his kids by in vitro fertilization. Now that David Drier's big secret is out, I wonder when Dana will come out of the closet?

Let me tell you, fellow citizens, I went to high school with Mssr Rohrbacher and I can assure you all that he was a priggish, pompous little toadie then and has metasticized into the dangerous petty tyrant he is today. We were Marine Corps kids at Havelock High School near MCAS Cherry Point, NC where my father was commanding officer. I fervently hope that he is beaten soundly next election, preferably by someone like Maxine Waters - Please! I would like to say that I moved from his district in Huntington Beach, CA to Kona Hawaii in 2001 as soon as I realized who he was. He is the best example of who we don't need in our government. However, I moved here to teach High School as a student services coordinator for chapter 53, section students - those with behavior disorders

Dana Rohrabacher is an example of the reason the Republican Party has deep problems now. No intelligent Republican would vote for him. On June 18, 2009, he issued a press release expressing his support for the Iranian Communist MEK (MKO, PMOI, NCRI, Rajavi Cult, or Pol Pot of Iran) terrorists.

I knew Dana Rhorbacher in high school. He was about two years behind me at Havelock High School near MCAS Cherry Point, NC. He remains the self - obsessed, affected, obsequios petty tyrant he was in 1963. It's no surprise that this "mexican chaser" would be sucked into the vacuum of any Obama nightmare. Hate is not the opposite of love, indifference is. We must all be indifferent to him...
