Eric Garcetti Makes A Big Move!

>

Everyone I know thinks really highly of Rep. Xavier Becerra and if he wants the job as Secretary of Commerce and Obama wants him for that post... gezunterheyt. One reason why so many progressives are overly excited about this is because the hands-down best politician in Los Angeles, progressive City Council President Eric Garcetti, might consider the congressional seat. Something tells me Garcetti, who gets turned on to the nitty gritty of urban problem solving, is more interested in making his mark as mayor rather than just being one of 400-some-odd members of Congress. He's serious about things like solving environmental problems and housing problems and probably feels a more hands-on approach on a local level will have a greater impact on people's lives.

In any case, DownWithTyranny wants to congratulate Eric on an entirely different matter. Last weekend, he and his brilliant and vibrant partner, Amy Wakeland tied the knot here in Malibu. I'm looking forward to seeing Amy as First Lady someday.

Eric is awesome. Mayor in 2013, Governor in 2018, President in 2024?

Now yet though. Congrats to Eric and Amy!
