IS LEONARD BOSWELL (D-IA) REALLY THAT BAD?
>
A glimpse into the sausage factory isn't something everybody appreciates. Neither is a glimpse into the legislative process. But if looking at all the garbage they put in sausages turns you vegan, maybe a look at what goes into the drafting of laws will turn you into an advocate of campaign finance reform. What does campaign finance reform have to do with law making? Glad you asked.
Today our pals over at Progressive Kick, unveiled a new website that shows how reactionary insider Democrat Leonard Boswell has been raking in the legalized bribes at a rate nearly as prodigious as a Republican-- and turning out the favors for his allies on K Street just as fast. I want to urge you to check out whoreallyownscongress.com/Boswell/ and find out why grassroots and progressive Iowans are abandoning their long time congressman for a far better Democratic alternative, Ed Fallon.
Boswell has taken millions of dollars from special interests and then votes for what they want, regardless of what it means to the average working family. That's the kind of behavior we expect from Republicans, not from Democrats. But in Boswell's case too often it's hard to tell, at least from his Blue Dog voting record. Of course, now that he has to face the voters, he's suddenly trying to vote like a Democrat more often-- just the way Al Wynn did when he realized Donna Edwards had gotten the attention of Maryland voters. Hopefully Ed Fallon will be the next Donna Edwards, something that would put the Rahm Emanuels and Steny Hoyers on alert that the Democratic grassroots is sick and tired of their bullshit Republican-lite agenda.
And allow me to throw a plug in for a completely different race. Tomorrow our Blue America candidate is Larry Joe Doherty (TX-10). He'll be on live at Firedoglake at 11am (PT/1pm Central) and if you want to hear what a real prairie populist sounds like, be sure to join us then.

Yes. Boswell is probably the number one reactionary we should be targeting.
But why Larry Joe Doherty?
He is the DCCC favorite who beat out grassroots hero Larry Grant in the primary. Sure he has some backing from his rich friends. But how is he a populist? Disappointing. There are so many great canidates yet to be added. Ed Fallon for example that are more important then Larry Joe Doherty who will probably go on to be a reactionary hack like Lampson.
Karl, I hope you're wrong about Doherty. Come and meet him at FDL tomorrow and see what you think. He sure has me persuaded. Blue America never backed Lampson and we smelled that pig in a poke a mile away. Doherty seems like a genuine populist. But I'd be interested to hear what you say after you've heard him at FDL tomorrow.
I hope I'm wrong too. I'll stop by and check it out.
I hope he is a real Texas populist. Beacuse I love Texas populists :)
I've always appreciated Fallon's outlook on political issues, and am supporting him in his run again Boswell. I've been kind of amazed at the trash talkin that Boswell has been doing.
Go Fallon! Boswell's been in office way too long.
