WHAT AFFLICTS REPUBLICANS MORE-- DELUSIONALISM OR JUST GOOD OLD FASHIONED INABILITY TO TELL THE TRUTH?
>
Outrageously, Tom Delay still isn't in prison. He's even allowed to travel outside the U.S. while his tangled judicial situations are sorted out. Yesterday he was in the U.K., speaking at Oxford. His ramblings, which usually take place before less critical audiences-- normally paid talking heads from GOP propaganda outfits like Fox and Clear Channel-- were greeted with derision and laughter. Aside from his one truthful utterance-- that Hillary Clinton would probably be the next president-- he grabbed headlines by claiming that no American is denied health care.
By the way, there’s no one denied health care in America. There are 47 million people who don’t have health insurance, but no American is denied health care in America.
A couple weeks ago an 18 year old guitar player in my neighborhood broke his hand. He went to the emergency room and they gave him a temporary cast, told him to see an orthopedic surgeon within 3 days or his hand would be mangled and useless, and charged him $500. Many people give false names at Emergency Rooms and find other ways to avoid paying. This kid isn't like that. He scraped together all the money he could and gave them the $500, leaving himself with no money whatsoever. He spent the next 3 days calling every clinic and orthopedic surgeon in L.A. No one could help him. Relative suggested he hitchhike down to Tijuana and get treatment there.
On the 4th day I asked him how his hand was doing and he had given up hope. He doesn't know who Tom Delay is. I called my doctor and he recommended an orthopedic surgeon in Beverly Hills. I called the guy and told him the kid is a talented guitar player in a bad situation and asked him to give me a deal on the treatment. The doctor is a huge music fanatic and he volunteered to do it free. He had to re-break the kid's hand but he saved it.
Maybe the kid will write a song like this one day, a song by Pound of Flesh that sums up the last 7 years of Republican rule:
Labels: health care, Tom DeLay

The joke is that DeLay was supposed to debate Rev. Al Sharpton, but Al failed to show up. So DeLay was in effect debating an empty chair and the chair won!
They are not delusional. they are emotionally blocked from telling the truth, because telling the truth is a mark of respect and a grant of equal standing. That is why they cannot do it.
I guess to DeLay, health care means not having to amputate the kid's hand.
Makes me wonder what DeLay would do if he got a shaving cut? Maybe that amputation would be appropriate.
gee I don't know, could it be being raised with a different values system and different influences? Seeing as we're supposed to be, you know, the party of civility, I'd expect someone to say that instead of "THER STOOPID!"
