OZZY WAS JUST A LITTLE AHEAD OF HIS TIME

>

"War Pigs" is one of the best known of all Black Sabbath's work. It first appeared on their incredible 1970 release, Paranoid. Now it's a classic and not only has it been covered by dozens of bands (including Faith No More, Weezer, Phish, Sacred Reich, Gov't Mule, Red House Painters, and Pig) but there are even two bands, one from Australia and one from Hungary, named War Pigs. It was originally an anti-Vietnam War song, but has come to be used by anyone who hates the horrors of war and warmakers.

In celebration of the weekend, have a look at this cool new video that celebrates all our favorite Republipigs

now that those f*in bastards have turned this into a religious war instead of a terrorist cleanup activity we can imagine the war machine turned on our neighborhoods, house to house warfare just like Baghdad.
Instead of a government protecting it's people, it seems like we have a government undermining it's people.
National guardsmen have been sent overseas like regular military. State militias and materiel were usurped and spilled out where they do not belong.
At it's worst this portends of Patriotism warped and morphed into "Become Republican or Die".

It is almost inconceivable that we have landed back in this place of deceit and carnage. The lessons of an entire generation have been subverted by the current one. To be here again after 35 years is clearly the result of some brilliant reality manufacturing. The question remains, how can it be undone or reversed?

What is surprising is that many of the same people are involved. And of course it's always Republicans and conservative Democrats who are responsible.

They think, and keep telling us that the "lesson of Vietnam" is that they shouldn't allow US citizens to interfere in their war plans. That is the reason they spent so much effort to subvert the media over the last 30 years.

War Pigs came in handy as inspiration for a column I wrote several months ago on www.18to24bracket.com

Osborne was right on spot with this song, and your video is
GREAT, also like your
website DOWN WITH TYRANNY or
also DOWN WITH FACISM.
-- but cruelty works its way up from the bottom and Ozborne bit
heads off of live bats, let's not forget....
humans are inhumane to each other, as last; after destroying everything else

FYI - Phish never played "War Pigs" but the band Umphrey's McGee performs a spot on cover from time to time.

bvzehwvzcInstead of second guessing the adults maybe you kids should get a job. can you say "Do you want fries with that?"

Truth is this war has been coming since WWII when Britain gave the middle east back to the arabs. The muslims hate the west world because we aren't muslim and they can't control us. Muhammad commanded muslims to convert infidels by the sword if neccessary. This is a war for our way of life and our very survival.

Try spewing your ideas and diatribes under an islamic regeim. You would be beheaded or stoned to death for your opinons.

I disagree with each of your opinons but I support your right to have and share your opinons.

One more thing. Do you realize that more Americans die every day from automobile crashes (119)than die in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why don't you protest against cars? Is it because you don't want to walk and riding is comfortable

Hey Anon, I have a job and it doesn't involve fries. Casulties on the highway are accidents not deliberate acts of war.

I'll spew whatever I want.

I don't get it. Why is opposing this war the same thing as wanting to live in a Muslim theocracy?

So many (anonymous) people seem to think so, but my poor, slow, liberal brain just can't make the connection.

I've always liked this song. But, I disagree about Ozzy being ahead of his time. That's like saying Orwell was ahead of his time in writing 1984. The behavior described in War Pigs and 1984, has occurred in history over and over and we're seeing that behavior again in the current neocon administration.

also, cake has covered war pigs, so please add it to the list of bands.

Sorry, but the Muslims are already here, and are waiting for the right moment to strike.

The video is very manipulative. Now I do agree that it was a mistake to go to war in Iraq, surely anyone thinking about being a suicide bomber had their beliefs in concrete after witnessing the thousands that american/british forces have killed, plus I believe there is more terrorism in america by non muslims than in over in Iraq (its all about making you fear).

But, as I said, the video is manipulative. Now I really like the song War Pigs, but they've purposefuly put the lyrics with the pictures, "evil minds that plot destruction" with a picture of Bush or some governmetn bloke. Now that is manipulation, whether they could be evil or not.
