Thought for the day: Is my friend giving the Big Dickster too much credit? Or might there really be "intelligent design" behind the Veep's madness?

>

My first response to this e-mail from a friend--who's European-born and now splits his time between there and the U.S.--was that it credits the Dickster with more sophistication than he's ever shown in his vice presidential behavior, either public or (insofar as we are aware) private. However, that behavior has been explicable only as the product of criminal psychosis so extreme that it all but demands locking him up and throwing away the key.

Could there in fact be method to this blatant madness?

What Cheney can't tell the American people

We are living above our means, we owe the world trillions of dollars that we can't pay back....What do you think will happen if they are no longer afraid of us? What will happen if we lose control over the world's oil reserves and they want to be paid in euros and not in dollars?

I think this is why Bush says he will be vindicated by history.

When the true nature of the world’s oil predicament is revealed, he believes we will be thankful there are bases full of troops in the oil heartlands of the world. He knows what the true nature of things are regarding actual energy reserves.

If it comes to the point where Americans have to choose between giving up their cars and suburban lifestyle or bombing arabs to keep the oil flowing, well…I think you know what we will choose. Right?

Wrong. We choose Alternative energies.

Bush will be demonized for doing NOTHING about alternative energies and denying global warming. His first official broken campaign promise was backing away from his promise to reduce "carbonbonoxide" emissions.

I do follow your logic. Too bad Bush wasn't competent enough to execute it. No occupation plan? No even plausible faux exit plan?

Bush is already in the history books as the Worst President in History. Gore Vidal predicted it in 2000.

I don't know, but after watching Gonzales being peeled like a grape today, you do have to admire the evil genius of Bush2 putting these "nice" incompetent people WAY OVER THEIR HEADS or souls sold to Satan or Jesus and will do whatever he tells them to do.
I feel MORE sorry for us and the constitution, but watching Gonzales is painful. He MUST know how incompetent he looks.

I think the problems with oil are going to manifest themselves sooner than we are ready to seriously rely on alternatives.

You are right to say that if the choice was between Bombs or Alternatives, we would choose the latter.

Unfortunately that isn't the choice we face.

We face a drastic lowering of our standard of living (if faced with long term energy shortages).

In that reality most Americans will follow the leader to blame the Enemy du jour and support bombing to get back "The American Way of Life."
