ONE BRICK OF THE HATED "PATRIOT" ACT DISLODGED

>

This morning the Senate passed Feinstein's bill-- with 94 of them voting yes-- that revises that secret little passage in the Patriot Act (the one that "no one" knows how it got there in the first place) allowing for the Regime to illegally replace sitting U.S. prosecutors without Senate approval. "Under the new bill, which still must be approved by the House, if a vacancy occurs, the White House and Senate have 120 days to name and confirm a U.S. attorney. If they do not act in that time, a replacement would be named by a federal district judge. The new bill would restore a procedure that was changed by the 2006 reauthorization of the Patriot Act. In that law, that ability to name the replacement is held by the attorney general instead of a judge."

So who voted no? Hagel and Chris Bond, two conservative Republicans. I'm not quite sure yet what the 6 Repugs on the Judiciary Committee-- who tried to stop it there-- did on the floor. They were Kyl, Sessions, Graham, Cornyn, Brownback and Coburn and I'm guessing 4 of this unseemly lot were the ones who abstained.

Oh, and by the way, interesting that Hagel does not find it imperative that Bush be held accountable in this matter.

Shows his true colors.
