McCAIN v2007-- THE WORST VERSION YET

>

There have been a lot of stories lately about how Mr Double-talk Express can't seem to make up his mind about anything. But that isn't news; or it shouldn't be. McCain has always been about cultivating an image and sometimes all the twists and turns get him tied up in knots. Tomorrow's New York Times reports another one. Remember how McCain was trying to make out like he was above the fray of dirty politics? And how he shunned the low life scum who made the really grotesque and vile TV ads? Those particular low life scum are on Team McCain now. Yep, Team McCain now "includes advisers who once sought to skewer him and whose work he has criticized as stepping over the line in the past."

McCain v2000 complained about the slimy ads Bush and Rove were running against him, whining that they were distorting his record. McCain v2007 just hired Mark McKinnon, Russell Schriefer and Stuart Stevens, 3 of the distorters.

But that's not all. You remember how McCain v2004 got so upset with the right-wing nuts who ran the deceitful swift boat ads against John Kerry? He called the work of Stevens Reed Curcio & Potholm "dishonest and dishonorable." Well, it looks like McCain v2007 is looking for dishonest and dishonorable; he just hired Stevens Reed Curcio & Potholm to make ads for his campaign. There's more too. You surely haven't forgotten the sexist, racist ads the GOP ran against Harold Ford. McCain v2006 said they were disgusting. One can only assume that by hiring Terry Nelson, the man behind the ads, McCain v2007 is eager to get some of that disgusting working for him. I don't give Republican operative and cult leader James Dobson much credit for anything, but he looked into John McCain's soul and he saw disgusting alright; he says he would never vote for him or support him and that he prays our country doesn't get cursed with John McCain v2008-- or any other version.

A Democrat watching McCain assemble the dirtiest and most disreputable assassins in the ad business says "It’s like an all-star World Wrestling Federation cage match, except that instead of fighting one another, all of the brawlers are on the same team."

They were at it again on MSNBC today, calling that bag of wind the straight talk express or some such nonsense.

How did we remain reasonably free all these years with news media like that?
